I just got an email from Baptist Health asking me to give a donation to them. Seriously? These are the folks that turned my account over to collections because they decided my $200 a month payments (that were auto drafted using their payment system, so the amount was authorized by them) were not enough and I couldn't bump it up to $500. Jerks.

pay them the 500 the agency will take you to court and sue you

The total bill is like $2200. We never missed a payment but they decided if we couldn't do $500/month instead of $200/month it goes to collections. So it went to collections. I know they can sue me and win. The whole thing stinks.

I always heard if you paid something, they had to take it. If they refused payment, and tried to garnish or whatever, you could show you tried, and they'd lose the debt. Not sure I'm wording that right, but we knew someone who swore they got out of a huge hospital bill over that. They offered luje $50 a month, hospital said no. They waited until they got a paper about a court hearing for garnishment, and had some k8nd if proof they offered a payment, but the hospital said no, and they had the debt wiped out. That's what they said anyway.

Seems to be a trend around here. Hey, here's our easy, affordable payment plan. Now since you have paid 60% of the bill, we want it all right now or you have to double what you pay per month or we crush yoir credit rating.
This was not in the T&C pf the payment plan. When I called them about it they said ,sorry this is our new policy. So the collection company will get the money and the hospital got like 10% of the balance I owed them. Makes sense.

I guess with the extreme growth over the last decade or so that is gonna happen. The rate of growth has well outpaced the rate of being able to maintain everything, including police, roads, etc.

So, the daughter invited us for Christmas. She didn’t mention that her husband and one son had head colds. Her rationale was that having two sons in high school meant that someone was always catching colds in her household, and she didn’t think it mattered if we wanted to see each other. My parting gift was the head cold.

Honestly, I’m weary of this nonchalance. She should inform us when people in her house are sick. We should have the choice to visit or not under those circumstances.
