He is what I'm finding after stripping off the shingles and vertical oak boards.
Other than the splitting it's darn good stuff. Minimum widths are 8" and some running up to 14". Awesome stuff..
I'm including a few pics of how I remove it. It the board seems to want to split when I pry it off or if there is a visible split already I'll take a chain saw and cut it off above the first set of nails. That usually does the trick and solves the splitting issue. It also speeds up removal. I usually go ahead and cut all the boards but I'm this case the wood is so good I want to save every inch. It adds up and it's more money in my pocket.
I pulled roughly 300 board feet this evening in about 3 1/2 hours. Little slow for me but I was taking my time and looking the building over as I went. I can usually pull 1000 to 1200 board feet in a day of 1x stuff. Plus I have to be careful so I don't damage the horizontal layer underneath.
Going to be a lot of denailing on the outer layer of oak because of the shingles but still well worth it. They seem to be coming out pretty easy.
Looks to be a pretty straightforward and easy demolition, which I needed after the general store lol.
This one also seems to be balloon frame construction in the back half where it is 2 story, but it's 10x more structurally sound than the store.
