No we are not. We have top 15 talent. UK does not. Look at UT 5 year recruiting, and then UK. We are way ahead.

OK...here’s the rivals average star ranks for the last 4 classes

Team. 2017. 2018. 2019. 2020
Ala. 4.1. 3.9. 4.0. 4.0
UGa. 3.7. 4.2. 3.9. 4.0
UT. 3.3. 3.2. 3.6. 3.6.
UK. 3.0. 3.1. 3.1. 3.4.

We’ve averaged 3.4 and Kentucky has averaged 3.2...Bama and Georgia have averaged right at 4.0. So yes, we are much closer to Kentucky talent than we are Georgia/Bama talent.

It is not as bad as it seems, it's actually much worse, the other new coaches and offensive mindsets in the conference seem to bring original football thinking to their offenses, with fakes, wide open receivers downfield, running games with plenty of misdirection to keep the defenses guessing, Auburn looks improved against a young and inexperienced LSU team, we will be there in 3 weeks, Arkansas and A&M will show us tonight what to expect in the next two weeks, Arkansas could be passed next week and A&M make be a top 10 team here in two weeks, Kiffin hung 54 on Vanderbilt before the third quarter ended,

The Tennessee staff seems to be clueless on what to do to be competitive against talented teams and unsure how to scheme against the rest of the pack that Tennessee is trying to stay with, the unaccountability seems rampant in the staff ranks with Pruitt saying things after blowouts that indicate he wasn't watching the same game I was, but a lot of that resides with Fulmer, when you raise and extend for no legitimate reason, the staff just assumes Fulmer is watering the money tree and throwing money around whatever he feels like, but here comes 3-7, no bowl game, reduced conference earnings, massive operating deficit before they start refunding basketball tickets and donations, university bailout possibly eliminating the autonomy of the athletic department, but it's not as bad as it seems

And they beat us by 3 touchdowns...at home...

Yea, we definitely checked out at half time. My point in comparing our talent levels is that we aren’t gonna just out talent opponents - we have to show up and play well or we could lose every game in an all SEC schedule.

This bye week has given us all time for reflection. Taking a step back and looking at things again puts things in perspective...Kentucky showed they are a really good ball club...kept the game close with Georgia. This shows that our loss to Kentucky was not all that bad. Kentucky is a top 20 team. Lets keep up the hard work and keep improving!!

Do we have better players in 3 years? Yes.. Is player development looking good in 3 years? Questionable..... Have we lost to teams we shouldn't in 3 years? Yes (Kentucky.. yes they are solid but we got blowed out).... Are we competitive against elite in the SEC? No... I know it takes time but you have to see things get better with wins and losses... In the losses you have to be competitive at least in losses... Something isn't right.... I dont think the players truly believe.... Handling of QB situation fall on Pruitt... Year 3 and it's not looking good

yea...and I’ve never put as much stock in the team ranking by total points vs the ranking by average star value of the players signed. I see that as a better indicator of quality vs quantity. Here’s an SI writer that tries to look at roster strength of college teams..

“Things aren’t as bad...............”

No.....not at all. Kentucky beating Tennessee at Tennessee by 27.......really isn’t that bad.......it also happened back in the 1800’s when Tennessee didn’t have a coach at all.

Getting blown out 3 weeks in a row......really wasn’t that bad.......because you know.....Kentucky is like world beaters.

Also what “improving” are you talking about?

We are better than Kentucky. They just caught us on a bad day. Kinda hard to come back when your starting QB is responsible for a 21 point swing in the first half

Exactly.

Tough to overcome a QB who is as likely to implode as to play well and a coach who can't figure this out with 5 years of game film and practice time to work off of.

Maybe with another couple of seasons, Pruitt can keep us within 20 of KY.
