Thing to Remember About IU

I posted some of this on another thread, but since playing tennis on different courts is kind of the norm around here...

Indiana didn't lose to anyone they were expected to beat. The same cannot be said for us. Indiana was a lot more consistent than we were. The average margin of loss you cite is heavily skewed by their blowout loss to Ohio State in a game no one expected them to win. If you look a little deeper into their record, you'll see that they were tied with Michigan State on the road, until the Spartans hit a FG with 0:05 left in the game. They also trailed by just a FG at State College, until Penn State scored a TD with less than 2 minutes left.

We have 5 all-conference players. They have 6 -- plus 2 honorable mention. They have a better, more consistent QB. Their all-conference tailback is 6'2", 235 lbs. and has more rushing yards and more 100-yard games than anyone on our roster. Their all-conference WR has 1,000+ yards receiving -- more than our top receiver. They also have 3 other receivers with 500+ yards. We have 1 receiver, beside JJ, who has >500 yards. They have an all-conference placekicker and a kick returner that averages 20+ yards per return. Their defense has given up 3 points and 15 yards per game average more than our's. All of our wins came against teams with a combined losing record, too.

Apologies for those who've seen this info already.

Apples to Oranges when comparing Conferences. With our QB issues can see why we didn't have the numbers at WR vs their WR corps.

I guess other things to consider is depth, coaching and weaknesses vs strengths. I see +7-10 point win. Variables being a factor.

We lost to Georgia St. I don’t care who Indiana beat or didn’t beat we cannot overlook or be overconfident today against them or we will get beat.
All this "we" talk needs to stop. There is a big difference between fans' attitudes and players' attitudes. Fans and their opinions or actions don't mean squat. I don't believe any UT players are taking this game lightly, and that is what actually matters. Internet forum posters have opinions that are actually worth less than nothing, a negative value if you will.

I have a friend of mine who played high school and college football he hates when fans myself included overuse the word we

You're right. They played overall weaker competition than we did. That is definitely an aspect of the match-up that works in our favor.

Their record sounds nice coming out of the B1G at 8-4 overall but their 8 wins were against teams with a combined record this season of 25-72 including D2 Eastern Illinois. They didn't beat a team with a winning or even a .500 record this year. In their 4 losses they were outscored on average of 41-20. I don't think tonight will be a cake walk but I think some posters are putting to much stalk into IU's 8-4 record.
Cake walk it is
