Considering Bowles story has already changed big time from initial transcript I think I will side with Coach Jones. GBO!

Did he tell the truth the first time? Or did he tell the truth the second time? Probably no way to ever know/prove.

But the one thing already proven is: he's a liar.

Don't flame me. He has to have lied one way or the other.

Edit for clarification - just in case someone reading does not know who changed his story. The "he" I refer to is Bowles.

Vols fans better get some. This is not going away anytime soon, unless UT settles the case and fires Butch Jones. Otherwise, plan on hearing about this for the next few years.

It depends on the facts. If facts support the coaches/administration - and if UT wins according to expectations - it will most definitely go away. See FSU.

If the facts do not support the coaches then it won't - and shouldn't go away until action is taken (said coaches fired).

Had the misfortune of the timing of all this coincide with a meeting that involved some LSU, OSU, and Texas fans. I shrugged it off with a canned answer: blown out of proportion money grab and the facts will come out. Tennessee will be vindicated. I'm not sweating it.

I hope I'm right.
You're right

Nothing has gone away for FSU, except for their civil case; they're still in hot water with the federal case. The case against Winston is still ongoing too.

And FSU's civil case didn't go away because "they won"; it went away because they knew they were guilty and it was cheaper to settle now for $1 million + attorney fees than to keep fighting a losing battle and risk a jury awarding even more in damages and even greater attorneys' fees as the case wore on.

I agree with you on that. And also (something you left out) if this is a bunch of nonsense and lies I want the accusers and their lawyers to be thrown in prison for the rest of their lives. Just so they can learn first hand what real rape is. And add the media to that also.

I left it out on purpose. I think most people on Volnation already hate the accusers whether they are right or wrong. Volnation already has that part of the message loud and clear.

Not saying they should. Just saying that is the only way this isn't drug out for years. What Butch said to Trae will not come out in the rape trials this summer. The civil case is unlikely to go to trial for years. IF the university believes it will come out that Butch did say what is alleged, they will fire him and possibly settle the case. Otherwise plan on hearing every announcer mention it at some time during each game this next year.

Vandy has been under investigation since March of 2014.

As for UF, the last time we had a complaint it was pointed to as the proper way to handle these incidents and the polar opposite of how fellow state university FSU handled theirs.

Doesn't mean something new won't happen; but we've got a pretty recent record of handling these the right way, and the last time I looked at the list of 100+ schools with federal cases UF wasn't on it.

All this sounds like, some people trying to get some $$$$ with threats of bad publicity and it blew up in their face, now they have to go trial, and they will find out about the rule of law, no solid proof, no witnesses and a bunch of hearsay. Sounds like a bunch of butt hurt athletes that could not cut it in the SEC and trying to make a university pay for their lack of talent...........just saying.

As to what Butch said to Trae, the coach suspended AJ and AJ was not back on the field again. If the alleged attack occurred, does anyone think that coach Jones caused that to occur. Under stand members of the team were upset with the fact that one of their leaders was off the team. The chances of winning were at stake for the remaining games. As for the Civil case, I would think this would be very weak as evidence in that most would be here say. Do not take much of what Paul Finebaum thinks as being important. He is not a supporter of UT even when he was in school at UT. Check the record when he was on the Beacon staff. He has been an agitator most of his life!

If the CBJ and Bowles side of this mess comes down to his word vs his word, how can they prove who's right?

Well one thing is for sure, from what I've read from the reporters is that drae has given 2 totally different statements, so my parents taught me if someone lies once they will lie twice and behind every lie there is an agenda, which usually is the almighty dollar.

I don't agree, CBJ has always suspended players that were accused of any bad conduct...I don't know all the facts, but this whole issue smells extremely bad and some ambulance chaser talking some naive students in getting what they thought would be easy money.

Exactly. If the story is changed, he's a liar.

Wasn't Treon suspended for an assault and then reinstated -- same thing as the UT stuff I would say - and who was that RB that made the threatening text to an ex GF ?

I'll take my chances. No way CBJ should be fired. Assanine to even talk about that at this point.

The problem I have with all of this is that now, before every game and timeout during the football season we will have to hear about this s**t. After all the hard work by the team, and waiting from the fans, this is what everyone will focus on. It doesn't matter what the outcome of the trials are, lawsuit, what butch said or didn't say, who Drae Bowles is and his role in all of this, Mack Crowder, the JUCO player, Peyton Manning circa 1996,when it finally becomes our time to shine after being in the dark for so long, this crap( that's exactly what it is) will make it's way front and center, tainting everything. I'm sorry, I just wish athletes would realize they are not the only ones who suffer the consequences of their actions.

The fans alone deserve better. I just hope this time next year we are not celebrating a championship with a side of scandal.
