I have no sources...but I think Hamilton will give Phil one more year to figure out the new Clawson O and see what happens with an incoming top 10 recruiting class. I think Phil actually bought a year by bringing in Clawson. I just can't see the brass scrapping the whole thing after one year, even though it has been beyond pitiful. It make me ill, but they will say he deserves the chance. I see Tennessee winning their last 3 after losing to SC. May pass on a bowl.

Under enormous pressure I think we will slightly improved next year but will still get thumped by the big 3 and THEN Phil will be gone.

A new regime in 2010!

:good!:

The new regime starts in 2009. Phil will not be back, that is obvious at this point.

You may be right. You may be wrong.

i think regardless of the outcome of the remaining games fulmer needs to go even if we win all of those games by 50 pts. The reason i say this is the apathy shown towards UT across the country from fans, which is reflected in the media and so on to the recruiting base. Yes, we may have a top 10 recruiting class right for this next year but how long can he sustain bringing in these type classes on our program's prestige and name alone. Eventually players want to play for a winning program and have a chance at a national title. I think the key to turning around the program is to do something, almost anything thats not negative, to get our name back in the headlines of the national media to expel this apathy towards UT football that has spread over the program. This may sound doom and gloom but I think the time to change our head man is now. He has given alot to the school and team but ultimately his job, in the end, is to win games, most importantly those against FL, GA, and Bama, and he has failed to do that as of the last few years. I just see the key to get UT out of this rut is to get the fan base energized and excited again and I can't see this happening as long as fulmer is still in charge.

I could see this scenario playing out. I really wouldn't be surprised if they gave him another chance. Especially since he had a new OC and QB. His recruiting class is impressive too. I know most of the nation believes the change is coming at the end of the season, but I won't believe it until I hear it from the AD. I am afraid it might take missing two straight bowl games to get him out. I just get the feeling that Hamilton is looking for any reason he can find to keep him.

I can smell it.

Not sure if Fulmer can get out of this one..........either way, Clawson is done........If Fulmer gets canned, Clawson goes......if Fulmer stays, Clawson gets fired as a scapegoat.......I think Fulmer is burned out, been over there too long, 30 years is a long time to be a coach at a school..........

If Fulmer stays, Clawson stays. There is no way they will change offenses again without changing head coaches. The scapegoats are Crompton, and that Clawson hasn't had enough time to institute his full offensive package.

I can see this senario happening if he wins out with a bowl win.
It is also refreshing that it is your opinion or not some GA, Media Person, Insider, boosters cousin.....

I hate to be 'that guy,' but my source says that Fulmer has already been told he won't be coaching next year. Claw and Chavis will be held on until the the new coach decides personnel, which in other words means they're both canned as well.....

Take with a grain of salt, but I trust this source.

They're bleeding MONEY over there... BIG MONEY; 7ml at the stadium, loss of TV exposure, sales revenue. At UT, money is king. He's gone.

of course it's king. College athletics are just a big business and UT is hurting at the moment. MH seemed to act a little slow but he's getting it. I'm sure he also realizes his next hire is the biggest of his career.

His next hire is his career. If the next coach sucks, the Bruce Pearl hire won't mean jack. At UT basketball is the icing and football is the cake. I think that is one of the reasons he is so reluctant to pull the trigger.

Georgia's defense figured out the Clawson offense in a couple of quarters. Yet Phil needs another year? No thanks.

BUT WAIT....there's another thread(s) that says he gone...and now you're saying he stays...how can that be???

If he is retained, UT will be playing to 75-80,000 crowds in Knoxville. That would be a baaaaad move.

another "source" post

Yea, yea, yea....That's why I proceeded my post with "I hate the be 'that guy.'"

I've never posted anything of the sort, and I'm certainly not asking anyone to believe me. I certainly don't feel a need for vindication for being right on an internet message board. Just posting what I know. Next time, I'll keep it to myself.
