It's not desperation, it's their legal requirement. As a publicly funded institution, they are required to post job openings.

I work for the University of Washington, and last year after Ty Willingham was fired there was a job posting for head football coach. It doesn't mean anything, just doing what they legally need to do.

we've seen this before and I'm pretty sure every job has to be listed like that.

It is a compliance issue... it has to be open to the public as an equal opportunity employer.

I doubt the applications submitted online are even checked.

By law, they are required to place ads for the public to see. That is the law. There were ads last year when Kiffin was hired.

I just applied too. I actually spent way more time on that than I should have. I gave them a three point outline as to why I'd rock the house.
1. I love UT football
2. With my experience as a radio DJ, I have good communication skills...go-to guy to handle the media!
3. I will work for cheap!

I know I could do it. Just yesterday, I beat Alabama and Florida. I used combo blitzes, zone blitzes, and even man blitzes to wreak havoc. Sure, it was only Madden, but that still counts, right?

This. No desperation whatsoever. Every public school which hires a coach has to post the job for a minimum of 72 hours. Nice try.

You must be great at that game to have beat FL and Alabama all while playing Madden! Wow, I can not even play college teams on the version of Madden I have.
