These are the reasons we have NO CHANCE against Florida......

To say we have no chance at beating Florida is STUPID! No chance whatsoever!? We field a team just like them...that is my reason why we have a chance. Say that they are better and I will agree, but I will never agree that we have no chance to win. And in case you missed it...to say we have no chance at beating Florida is STUPID!

I'm hoping for a repeat of the 1990 homecoming game

(notice my avatar - game day t-shirt from that game)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I belive the score was UT-45 /FL-3

So does this mean they are going to come out to Vince McMahon's theme music? Cause then that would just fire me up even more...

Why all the hate? Just because I have hope, I get slammed on a VOL board. I could understand if I started the thread on a gator board, but why here? Is everyone truly this uptight, and afraid to have hope of a win? Basketball, football, baseball, foosball, who cares about the comparison.....how about having balls.

I`m not giving up! Let the games begin!!! :td:

I'm with you Big Orange Bob. I think some fans have lost their swagger. If you think you can't you won't. I know the coaches have have the players believing they can march into the sewer and beat the gators. We need to follow their lead.

Everyone acts like Florida ran all over us last year. I know the score wasn't pretty but a lot of the gators yardage came off of special teams. We gave up a huge kick off and a TD punt return. I would expect that aspect of the game to be improved.

The great Tim Tebow only passed for 96 yds and the unstoppable gator offense with Harvin only scored 2 TDs. One of those TDs on a short field. Crompton actually had more passing yards and the offense moved the ball but mistakes kept us from scoring. Again the coaching staff is eliminating the dumb mistakes. Our passing game should be slightly better and our run game even more improved.

With everyone telling the gators that they poop ice cream we have a chance of going in and shocking them. GO VOLS!!!!

I am truely hoping our boys play well and give 100% effort....Florida is loaded so it will be very difficult to beat them...but I've seen stranger things happen. I believe Florida will win this game, but we have as good of a shot as any...but it will take mistake free football and keeping Tebow and CO. off the field. GO BIG ORANGE!!!:td:

Say what you want about the stats, but the fact is, Tennessee only stopped Florida one time all day when it mattered. That was UF's first possession of the 2nd half. That is one reason why many UF fans are supremely confident. That and transition years are tough.

Do not kick to Brandon James and you save 7 pts right off the bat. Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. We will most likely lose, but there is a chance, however small, that we come out of there victorious.

Get knocked down ten times ... get up eleven.
Florida has everything to lose. UT has everything to gain.
Noone expects UT to compete.
I think we are better under these circumstances....enough to win ?
Maybe not but I believe they will not lay down either.

I agree with you. We were on our heels most of that day. But I think a lot of that was a product of the special teams and offensive mistakes. If we were playing at home, returning all 11 starters of a NC defense, one of the best college qbs of the century, and a top flight rb then I too would be supremely confident.

What irritates me is the perception I get from the media that Florida is going to drop half a hundred on us and from fans that seem ready to chalk that week up to loss and move on. I try to be a realist but I believe we stand a punchers chance and will make a game of it. Maybe I've imbibed too much orange kool-aid.

Ding, ding, ding.....We have a winner! Respect is one thing, but to fear an opponent is something ENTIRELY different.:clapping:

What is the point of starting a thread to explain why an unranked team with no quarterback or offensive line, which will be relying heavily upon contributions from true freshmen, has no chance to beat the defending national champions, who return 21 starters, at their home field?

If you felt the need to start the thread, you could have made it much simpler.

For example...

Reasons we will not beat Florida

1) They have every possible advantage.

When they are on offense and passing, UT has the advantage.

UT didn't have the advantage when UCLA was on offense and Kevin Craft was passing.

the tennessee secondary is the most overrated unit in all of college football.

eric berry is a once in a generation football player. there is no doubt about that.

the rest of that secondary doesn't scare anyone in the slightest.

Tennessee had four pickles in that game. One was a pick six. The defensive breakdown happened in the fourth quarter when UT went into the dreaded Chavis Prevent defense. The secondary was 20 yards back, which makes it difficult to defend 4 yard passes. Even Eric Berry lacks go-go-gadget arms.

I hope I see Tebow, with his poor mechanics and slow release, try to slice up UT's secondary. We'll pick-6 him faster than you can say circumcision.

And don't kid yourself if you don't think Florida is scared of UT's secondary.

BTW, are you wearing jorts right now? Does your girlfriend have fat arms?

Hope is about all you have. Tebow threw 2 interceptions during the entire season last year with his "poor mechanics and slow delivery."

Don't kid yourself into believing that Florida or Tebow is scared of UT's secondary.

If you want to see a scary good secondary, look no further than UF's which led the country in interceptions last year with 26.

Thats because the rest of the time he was doing his patent 4 yard up the middle run.

ahhh, the old jort reference.

there is nothing about tennessee that will scare me until at least 2011, maybe 2012.

1. We have a new coach, and no one knows if his style will work in the SEC.QUOTE]

You do realize that when Urban was hired at Florida, pretty much everyone said his style of play wouldn't work in the SEC b/c the defenses were too fast.

I think we will beat the gators. I will pray  that we do. However, I don't think God usually gets involved in regular season games, even though He is surely a Vols Fan! :clapping:
