1. We have a new coach, and no one knows if his style will work in the SEC.
2. Florida is the best team in the country.
3. It is at their home.
4. They are loaded with future professional players.
5. They are going to win the national championship.
6. They have the best coach in the country.
7. We are coming off a VERY bad year, and our head coach was fired.
8. We have the same players as last year.

This is all VERY legit arguments, and this is why Bruce Pearl in his first year cannot beat the MIGHTY GATORS.....
......right? Sound familiar? Remember those days? It sounds to me like an awful lot of similarities between Bruce Pearl's first year, and Lane Kiffin's first. I say the H*ll with the Gators, let's just play the game. The balls, whether basket or foot, have ways of taking funny bounces, and the best team isn't always the "best" team. If it all played out on paper, we wouldn't have lost 7 last year. GO VOLS!!!!

I think we're gonna beat 'em. I'm wearing the pompom pants to the OU game to celebrate.

I thought you were setting this up for the comparison to Urban Meyer's first year (Remember that most had the Vols in the top 5 at the start of 2005).

Then you went off into this whole Bruce Pearl thing that got kinda confusing...

1. We have a new coach, and no one knows if his style will work in the SEC. - His "style" is pretty much a given to work, it's a pro-style set that has success in college football. The combination of offense/gameplanning/player talent will decide this.

2. Florida is the best team in the country. - Probably, but that's why we play the actual season instead of giving Florida the title now.

3. It is at their home. - Since 2000, the road team has won six times; recent history dictates Florida wins regardless of where it is, but still.

4. They are loaded with future professional players. - True.

5. They are going to win the national championship. - Back to that whole "season-playing" thing.

6. They have the best coach in the country. - Not dignifying this with a response. :)

7. We are coming off a VERY bad year, and our head coach was fired. - Shocking

8. We have the same players as last year. - Ever heard of freshmen and seniors? Freshman weren't here last year, and seniors aren't here this year. That's kind of how it works.

This is all VERY legit arguments, and this is why Bruce Pearl in his first year cannot beat the MIGHTY GATORS.....

So I come to the end and see you're actually arguing that despite your 8 maxims of losing we have a chance? This is what I get for not reading through to the end. Argh. Damn you, OP. Damn you. :)

Tebow's already hurt with a sore back. If UT pounds him every play and forces a few TOs, UT can pull the upset!

Anything can happen in a rivalry game. Not predicting anything, just sayin. Keep your heads up boys and hope Lane can coach em up.

Thought I might get you all there......All I am saying is that the same arguments being made this year in football were said back then in basketball. I realize upsets happen more often in basketball than football, but I am SO SICK of hearing about how unbeatable the gators are. Don't get me wrong, I realize they are a great team, and deserving of their ranking, but GIVE ME A BREAK ALREADY!!!! I completely respect Tim Tebow, and his Christianity, but I despise Urban Meyer and the gators. Do I think we beat Florida this year, no. Do I think we have a chance, yes, maybe slim, but a chance.

I surely am not the only one that is tired of hearing of the 50 point beat down we are going to get on Sept. 19. Before the trolls start, let me put a stop to it right now.....Give me 21 points, and name the price.

What is the point of starting a thread to explain why an unranked team with no quarterback or offensive line, which will be relying heavily upon contributions from true freshmen, has no chance to beat the defending national champions, who return 21 starters, at their home field?

If you felt the need to start the thread, you could have made it much simpler.

For example...

Reasons we will not beat Florida

1) They have every possible advantage.

who thought about Donovan?

Don't think that about Meyer either, but a couple national championships, and everybody is ready to declare you the next Lombardi. Was just trying to find similarities between the two....more I think about it was quite a stretch.

Oh Ye of little faith, I'll let you buy me tickets and I'll twitter you as the game goes on and try not to laugh in your face when we pull the upset.

So much of your premise is flawed

Sure it is, but if I just came on here and said,"I am so sick of hearing about how Florida is the next dynasty!", would anyone have read it? But seriously, I am so sick of hearing......:D

Why bother playing the game? It's obviously pointless.

1. We have a new coach, and no one knows if his style will work in the SEC. You could also argue that this is why we might win
2. Florida is the best team in the country. That is yet to be determined. Most Talented - Yes, Best Team - ?
3. It is at their home. In the series history, that hasn't been a good thing
4. They are loaded with future professional players. They were last year too, and still lost a game.. Anything can happen
5. They are going to win the national championship. Odds aren't great for teams starting out as AP #1.... And the fact that they have to play the games first.
6. They have the best coach in the country. That's an opinion
7. We are coming off a VERY bad year, and our head coach was fired. And that has nothing to do with this year.. If anything, that plays in our favor.
8. We have the same players as last year. We added one of the best recruiting classes in the country, and lost some players from last year, which could end up being a good thing. Plus, we have a completely different offensive and defensive scheme.

This is all VERY legit arguments, and this is why Bruce Pearl in his first year cannot beat the MIGHTY GATORS.....

Not sure I saw where this was going, but success on the basketball court does not relate to success on the football field. The one thing I agree with is that the games aren't played on paper, which is why we still have a chance at winning this game, albeit a very slim chance.
