He’s not a douche.

Talks very highly of UT and respects us.

Not sure what you expect him to say.

He showed up on Market Square the week after the Georgia beatdown and spent a whole afternoon taking selfies with fans.

He brought up Knoxville and "Rocky Top" unbidden a couple of weeks ago on a radio hit with Brock Huard.

If he respects our fans then he ought to stop trolling them.

Other guy says “ if you’d of just answered the call and said yes you could of saved them a lot of trouble”.

He was never interested in coaching here. Yet people still saying my source says he’s still in play. Let it die.

My source says the main issue a behind closed doors deal with Kiffin as his OC and Tee Martin as his assistant HC/ QB coach. Kiffin feels insecure with Tee getting the assistant HC title, and Tee is afraid it will be less than a lateral move giving up his OC title.

Once Gruden gets those two on board it's a done deal.

I still like the idea that Gruden is coming, it's so much better than the reality of knowing no one in their right mind would become HC at Tennessee right now:banghead2:

Should have shut it down early on instead of playing us. Currie should have also.

This isn't the Gruden thread so I can say this..the only person who played you was you. The Grudenites got played by themselves and "insiders" who were just flinging their filth at a wall like a monkey hoping something would stick and reinforce that e-cred they wanted.

It's unreal people fell for some of the same "insiders" as last time (babyvol, etc)

Wrong. He should squelch these rumors. He knows what the mere mention of his name does to this fanbase. He knows how bad some have wanted him. His name may be thrown out at every coaching search but its not the same. Knoxville goes bonkers when Grudens name pops up.

He could do the adult thing and just simply state out right that he isnt coming. That way, the fans that still believe in him would have at least a definitive answer. I think its a ****ty move him not saying anything.

why would he say anything if he were actually considering the job?

it's easy to come up with these "he was never gonna come" AFTER he says no.

after all, nobody would give up a cush ESPN job to take a college coaching position that pays less, requires so much more work, so much travel, etc...

...oh. except for Herm Edwards. But Jon Gruden would never do that.. even as ESPN is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Lol you must not go in the Gruden thread much. Anything and everything is turned into something to prove he’s coming.

Ain't this the truth. Gruden could mention he likes the dog in Bush's Baked Beans commercials and the Grudenites swear under oath it meant he was coming to UT.

He could, but I’m just saying he’s not a douche just because he doesn’t. If we start a Saban thread and start that rumor, I guarantee you Saban doesn’t come to the podium tomorrow to say I have no interest in coaching at UT. There’s really no difference even if you wanna spin it like it’s different just because Gruden has a few ties to the area. Simply, our fans have caused this, not Gruden.

This all day....how many people stop what they are doing in the middle of work to squash some unknown internet rumor...

I dont think there is a room big enough to fit those three egos in it at the same time. May be mistaken but seems like a three way power struggle from the start.

Why would Kiffin go back to being an OC?

Does your source live in Fantasyland, or is he the guy behind you in line at Kroger?

When the attention troll had to come out from under his bridge into the spotlight, he does where he stands...

Or, he has taken the job and was playing poker face! Which is it Gruders?

Yea, this is ridiculous. Kiffin would have to love us more than USC to do this. I do believe Gruden has an offer as was reported this morning but I doubt Kiffin is considering going back to OC.

The truth is, though, Gruden could be killed in a car wreck and there would still be a sizable portion of Vol fans who believe he will one day be our head coach.

To your point, they have one cat over in the Gruden thread from time to time posting the Saban quote about denying being the Bama coach before he took that job. They then demand Gruden uses his network prime time job to say, "NO I will not coach at UT" in order to not believe him?!?!? Gruden knows he has a bunch of fruitcakes on his hands in parts of the delusional UT fanbase so he says very little. He could have had the job if he wanted it, instead it's said he is doing double and triple reverses communicating through hidden messages, this is the aliens are channeling through my cat to communicate their intentions for planet Earth folks who then go "soon." Soon? No, LOONS!!! lol It is entertaining but I feel a little guilty having fun at the expense of people who have problems with daily life.

Why does it bother some of you so badly that some fans want Gruden? Why do you guys have to act like arrogant azz wipes just because someone wants a specific coach?

I get you think everything Gruden is stupid, but do you really have to be so condescending about it? Good grief.

Do guys who think Gruuuuden hung the moon have to call reasonable folk who think all this Gruden shietz has been nothing but an embarassment to Tennessee and are sick to death of it azz wipes?

This! One could also believe ESPN management knows this generates viewers and clicks and have directed him to not say much. You know he likes his $6.5M/yr MNF common tater job so he's trolling the fans for $$$$.

Never say never???????? Give me a break. He wasted our time and led the Gruden mob on a wild goose chase. Might as well have said "hey boys, want to go on a snipe hunt?" I cannot even listen to him call a game anymore, turned it over to Kevin Arnold and Westwood One.
