There is No New Thing Under the Sun

And there are those who are just as emotional about hating every coach the moment he does live up to their expectations. The same people who are swooning over Freeze will be calling for his head in two years. We really need to stop this insane cycle of firing and hirings. For good or bad be patient and let things play out
No, the administration needs to stop making sh!tty hires

That's what guys like you are for. And when the next guy, whoever it is, shows signs of failing there will be guys like you suggesting he needs more time. When do the players deserve better leadership? They get 3-4 years to be developed and prepared, to win and compete for championships, and maybe to move on to the league. How many more need to have their talents wasted by sub-par coaching. Those are the ones that concern me....not some mercenary coach who'll never show his face in Knoxville again after he is gone.

Three years is enough to see the trend of where we are heading, and if a coach has what it takes. We didn't jump the gun on Dooley or Butch...we were just right early on about their trajectory.

When we do return to relevance in football the chaotic path we used will be interpreted as an organized process by some but it’s really just Mr MaGoo randomly pulling levers...

Well we are starting to see some of that young talent pan out so someone is doing something right. And I don’t care where we’re ranked in recruiting, I’m looking at the type of player their bringing in. The roster is being transformed.
Three wins.

How many blowout, double-digit losses?

First 6 game skid since I was a freshman living in Reese Hall.

Yeah, it's all coming together.

But you keep calling out those that want better. You keep dividing the fanbase. That'll help.

If you’re worried about the player, they have voted. In today’s world they would be leaving and not signing. They played hard till the end and that doesn’t happen if the players have lost faith in the coaching staff.

Is that what you saw? Players playing until the end this season? In all of the 20+ point blowouts? How many players dropped out of the recruiting class since the summer? We are just now starting to see them enter the transfer portal.

Some will always sign, and some will always stay...Tennessee is a special place, and in the SEC. But if you're denying the fallout we have seen, then there really is nothing to talk about.

But it's nice to know the players have conveyed their confidence in the direction of things to you. "they have voted"...uh-huh.

List the young talent that is panning out to justify this continued experiment in idiocy

I know...but this is deeper than that. It's really been eye-opening how some people are willing to treat others about a differing opinion. It probably has more to do with the state of our society than the football program, and it is sad to see.

I love a good online scrap and debate. I'll make jabs. But ultimately I like everybody here because whether we realize it or not, we want the same thing. Some people just want to be right and let others know it however.
Some people just want to watch the world burn.

Agreed.

Part of my wants to see us hire Fickell though, just so the name matches the fan base. Fulmer could have a lot of pun fun with that every time we go on a two game streak (losing or winning, doesn't matter).

I’m not a Pruitt any other coach fan (well maybe Leech). This year has sucked. Coaching sucked at times. The thing that gives me hope is the roster that is being put together in Knoxville. The Jimmies and the Joes beat the X’s and the O’s.
So being 6th in the SEC in recruiting consistently is where we need to be? The only way Pruitt is succeeding is if the talent gap on his team is miles ahead of whoever we face.

The Volnation Christmas tradition. Secret booster meetings. Click bait “journalists” stirring up the gullible. MITBeaver being visited by the Ghost of Christmas Past (Jon Gruden) and shown the future. We will hear something Monday. The Firers and Freezers went right down the rat hole. The only thing missing was the stakeouts at the airport.
For some of them this the third time. At least it only lasted a week.

You forgot another old, reliable favorite:

Who says Freeze is that great anyway? He did get Ole Miss (very temporarily) to its first no. 1 ranking in 50 years and beat Saban back to back, but for all that never even won the West.

He would almost certainly be better than Pruitt, but by no means is a lock.

Every poster on this site that is a true Vol fans want the same thing, we want to win. The one thing I believe we all can agree on is that not one of us will be making a call on the hiring or firing of anybody on the Hill. I have posted on here for a while and have read the post for much longer and it has become very apparent that very very few if any have any real info. Knowing someone that works at UT or knowing a season ticket holder that knows a donor does not mean you know what is really going on behind the doors of those that are really in power.

If any of you work for a large company, and yes you can look at UT as a large company, or for the government, and yes UT is part of the government, then you should know that just because you think you have an idea of what is being done more times that not you or your those people that think they are "connected" don't have a clue.

It is fun to speculate and find out what everyone else is thinking on this site but if you think that anybody has a real insight of what is going on and you believe what an anonymous poster is telling you remember this person "could" be a fan of a rival and they "could" be getting everyone fired up to influence a recruit or their family.

I'm not saying don't speak your piece but don't believe that anybody is really as connected as they may want to be or think they are. GO VOLS and rise back to the top This Time.

I agree 100% and would add a couple of things--It is great to have a variety of opinions when they are stated in a respectful way. Also please have some sense of knowledge on what you are posting. BAD information is actually worse than no information. Also good tongue in cheek humor I love,

Idiom? It's a Biblical quote not an idiom.

An idiom is when you use a phrase that is not literally true, like "it's raining cats and dogs". In this case the statement is literal.
You're thinking of a metaphor, not an idiom.

And, there's this...
Nothing new under the sun - Idioms by The Free Dictionary
idioms.thefreedictionary.com › nothing+new+under+th...

  1. there's nothing new under the sun. There is nothing in the world that has not already happened, been seen, or been created; things exist now as they always have.

Hey, don't rule out the airport stakeout just yet.

Last the field was littered with freshman and sophomores at every position. Bailey, Tillman, Baron, To’o To’o, Wideman Hyatt, Calloway, Slaughter, Small, Beckwith, McCollough, Jackson,Crouch.

Hated Kiffin from jump, liked Dooley, never really was crazy about Butch. When Butch was first hired I went a whole day thinking we had hired Butch Davis. Still have a BuTch Please t-shirt. Same name then with a different number, lost my password when I got a new computer. Didn’t post much in the old day, I more bored now.

I really think Freeze would crash and burn at Tennessee. If we were hiring a coach I think we make a run at Mark Stoops, I think he would be a good fit.

Thank goodness you’re not in charge of the hiring process or else, you’d be worse than the clowns up in the administration office.
