There is a lot of optimism on the hill about recruiting

He's committed to Vandy, how is that 3rd?!

How long ago was that commitment? I was committed to post on ESPN message boards until they changed their format. Now I'm a silent to Volnation. Until an LOI is signed that means nothing.

Morris- 50/50
North - 60/40 NC
Bellamy - 70/30 UT
Lawson- 55/45 AU
Bell - 80/20 UA
Ford- Vandy
Cunningham- 75/25 anywhere but UT

Im not being negative bUTch just dont have enough time to build proper relationships.
However I do think our 2014 class will be in top 12.

Bellamy is gushing over UGA on twitter right now.

I hope that there is optimism in the recruiting office because I see absolutely no momentum in this class. This staff has needed a big recruit for several weeks now to get things started and now it is getting late in the game. The only way you were going to rescue this class was by naming a big name coach and we chose to go in a different direction.

While we may have thought that we hired the best coaching staff in the country Auburn went out and hired the best recruiters in the country.

I think this staff's strength is coaching, developing players, and driving team unity. If they can put a decent team on the field in the fall then they could have some credibility on the recruiting trail next year. As a Vol fan yes, there is always next year, again.

I never said the AD as in the Athletic Director. I said within the AD meaning Athletic Department and I am not playing that game about sources. It is what it is.

What are they suppose to act like? Of course they are going to spin a positive outlook whether they believe it or not. There is no doubt this staff has brought more positive energy than I can remember in a long time. There is no doubt this staff's effort is far superior than the last regime's. There is no doubt I'm proud as heck of what this staff is doing. It just seems every year we get our hopes up for some big recruit because somebody like skeeter says so and it never materializes. The truth is, no one knows for sure what these kids are going to do. It is exciting that we are in on so many big names, but I'm not going to get excited because the AD is putting out positive vibes. That is their job, and I wouldn't expect anything less from their position.

I will believe the "optimism" when I see it. Schools with as much tradition as the legendary Oklahome State Cowboys are doing better than we are.

I hate to rain on the Big Orange, however, when you cannot consistently get the best players in your home state , how are you going to land big out of state talent ? i live in metro Atlanta and the Vols sure need to reenergize their efforts in the football talent rich state of Georgia !

I am tired of next year, again. Heck, many are already looking to 2014. This is ridiculous.

We are in on a great deal of Georgia prospects. From my seat we are focusing effort there as much as anywhere.

Talk is cheap when it comes to recruiting. Rumors were flying how CJG felt we were in good with Green. I guess not so much. Being a hat on the table does not equate to alot of anything but getting beat by Vandy by 3 TDs. We have about a week till NSD and alot of hope on some guys who could very well go elsewhere. I hope we finish strong and it pushes us to a big year in 2013. As for plucking 4-5 star talent with this staff, I will believe it when I see it.

No offense to Ryan as I am happy to have him as part of this class but, the kid is a 3 star WR rated 55th at his position. He always wanted to play here. All it took was an offer. There was not much recruting to it. People are saying we should pass on taking ANY RBs in this class now because we can't get one ranked in the top 25. Once again, very happy Jenkins will be wearing Orange, but it's a weak arguement to call him a huge recruiting victory for this staff. Had Dooley offered, he would have been a Vol all along.

Where did he say he was "taking his money and going home"? He pointed out the obvious that this recruiting class appears to be on the bad side presently. Whether you are a CBJ fan or not, if anyone thought this was going to be a quick turn around was setting themselves up for a huge disappointment. When you bring in a relatively no name coach, most kids are going to take a prove it to me first approach. If he impresses on the field next year recruits will take notice and momentum will start to build.

On the other hand, if you want to turn the program around quickly, you have to hire a coach with a lot of equity, a superstar type coach. Hart chose the more risky approach so now we just to get behind CBJ and sit back a watch how it turns out. Not much we can do but whine and biatch and that really doesn't help much either.

Hold up. You're acting like this approach doesn't work? Then you're exactly the idiot that lets UT have idiots like Cheek and Hart foisted upon it without repercussion. Screw you and them.

This is true. I can't understand these zombie fans that just sit back take whatever is fed to them. I personally don't think we're going to see a resurgence in UT athletics until we get people in power that have T in their blood.

Maybe we should wait till AFTER NSD to determine whether or not the man can recruit. Even if we don't flip many of these guys, I would say him giving us a shot with them in two months time is still pretty good. Lets give these some time to prove whether he can recruit/coach.

Give the new coaching staff a chance. They are doing a helluva job considering they have been on the job for only a month against enormous odds. Would you run to sign with us given our recent history? We will get the players to help us rise and it will get better with each year. I am excited and know it will happen..give it some time. It is not the current staffs' fault for the past.. Vols have a great future..future so bright..gotta wear shades ..Just saying
