TheButch Jones thread (merged)

I'm going to be real disappointed if by the time I wake up in the morning there isn't a story of a UHaul being parked in Butch's driveway.

If Butch can recruit top 10-12 classes year after year, they should be playing up to that level and he struggles to get a team in the top 25. The way Kelly and Chandler were running the ball with a first and 10 just outside the 10 and they throw three times is poor play calling.

Going to be a seven win season and a bowl. That will keep Neyland 75 percent full.

Anybody that can be alright with that first half...and I, are on different planets. Look like high school at times. Buck has to stop somewhere.

We temporarily live in Forst Worth. Gary Patterson takes a team that should be a doormat and makes it competitive. With our resources, he would do a great job, but he would be hard to get. They love him here. Butch is a great recruiter but just does not have the ability to make good decisions during a game. 1st and goal inside the 1 and he doesn't put the quarterback under center and run Kelly 3 times? Give me a break.

So who are CBJ's realistic replacements? I think we all know at this point, he won't take us to the promised land. So which coaches could take us there and are on the market?

We have a QB vs System issue. Dormady has a pretty good arm - still learning with decision making but this offense needs a guy who keeps it sometimes. Looks too much like the Worley days except JW never kept it - at all.

That never works in the real world, buddy. None of the blue blood programs who hit hard times on the field suddenly saw all of their money disappear because their fans stopped giving them their "hard-earned money". Their revenue/attendance remained strong, and because of that they were able to afford to bring in superstar head coaches and turn things around. If that's what you want for UT, it looks like you're gonna have to bite the bullet and keep supporting the program.

You're assuming leadership can identify good talent and is willing to cough up money to get it. Both of which rarely occur at UT. Admin pays attention to attendance. Fulmer, Dooley...action/reaction. It's not like these programs need next week's game check to go get a coach. More likely, the find private money to make things happen if needed. The coffers are full my friend. Kind of a weak stance your taking. Why bite the bullet? If you care about the program, do what you think is best for it and instigate change.

Let s see what bowl we get first...💤

Getting to a bowl has become a joke and shouldn't be used as a measuring stick for a team or a coach. Last year, 80 teams went to a bowl. There are 128 teams total. It's the new participation trophy.

Go big or stay with Botch. We brought more money in than Bama last year. No excuses. Hire a big timer and let's beat Alabama. Butch should've been gone after we lost to Vandy and SC last year. Curry and Fulmer are not going to put up with the trash we saw tonight.
