The Zone Runs Thread - 2013

The rain was allsome. It cooled it off for me. Was ridiculously humid afterwards, though. Especially down by the river.

5 mi in 45:45 (9:08 pace)

If I can run with the same motivation Saturday, all I need is to shave :08 per mile off. That shouldn't be an issue! Unfortunately, I think I run slower in races with all those people. I'm sure there won't be nearly as many people as the Fireball, though.

I run faster in the race. Especially that first mile. Once I hit that line, my plan is to gtfo. I don't want to get kicked or tripped.

Am I seeing correctly that only one lane is coned off? How many people are they expecting for this race? I hope it's not bottlenecked.

I guess there's probably a shoulder. So... 12 ft lane plus maybe a 10 foot shoulder?

Last year's registration was over 500 people. Nowhere near the Fireball, but still enough to get annoying again at the beginning of the race.

People did NOT adhere to the "slower traffic keep right" rule of thumb last race. Spent the first 5 minutes of the race weaving in and out of slow people that shouldn't have been in the front and made no effort to get out of the way.

Start right behind the semiprofessionals.

Tex will tell ya, I don't drink a lot when I play. I've found that concentrating on playing well trumps beer drinking.
