The Zone Runs Thread - 2013

Guys, I'm seriously rethinking Warrior Dash.

I've read some absolutely terrible reviews about it online. Waiting up to an hour in line at some obstacles, along with obstacles "breaking" and having to be closed. I really think that's a lot of money and a long drive for a race that may wind up being a terrible experience.

The complaints were identical at every race I read reviews of. If I'm running a "race," I don't want to stand in line for obstacles. That's ridiculous.

I was just about to register, when I figured I'd check the Googles for promo codes to save $5 or so. Then I stumbled on a bunch of reviews... Good thing I didn't register yet.

So what's the alternative?

I don't know. I may be up for it anyway. It would just have to be a fun group activity and not a race. Then I could run hard for the Color Me Rad, since I won't have to worry about my Warrior Dash time.

The one thing the reviews agreed on was that the after party was an awesome time.

for the record, the majority of the reviews were from Florida. Could have been just one race that had issues. had some friends that ran it in Richmond and they had a good time. understand the trepidation of driving a distance only to be disappointed.

don't think they are that difficult either. friend can run a 5k in 25 minutes. ran wd in 34. did spartan which is 3 miles(?) in over an hour. think that one plus tough mudder is the true challenge.

I'm still down to do WD if that's what everyone wants to do. We are the last time slot of the day, though, so everything will be backed up completely by then.

From what I've read, we will wait for an obstacle or two.

I'm registered for the 8am Color Me Rad

I'm gonna wait until someone else registers for WD. I don't wanna be the first. We have 2 weeks until the price goes up.
