The Year's First Trap...

Dead on about the NC State situation, IMO. Its top 3 in the league and a solid tourney bid or he is on his way to the unemployment line.

I'm still amazed that some of their fans thought trading Sendek for Lowe was a good thing.

Yeah, unfortunately it happens at many schools. They get a chance to bring in an alumni to coach, and suddenly rationale is thrown out the window. "He's one of ours!!!" doesn't mean a damn thing when you're on the outside looking in.

Agree that Illinois is very talented this year...disagree that Bruce Weber's job is in jeopardy. I think it will all be academic though come March, hes a good coach and they'll have a good season.

Spot on with NC State and Lowe. This year is make or break for sure.

One thing to remember about Jeff Capel, he is only a season removed from an Elite 8. Last season was a disaster but I think that will be the exception rather than the rule. As long as the NCAA doesn't lay the hammer on him they'll be fine.

"Big Ten-Illinois.Of all the teams who were left out of March Madness in 2010, the Illini should feel the most embarrassment. A team with Elite Eight talent wallowed in mediocrity all season and got bad news on Selection Sunday."

Hilarious to read the person who mocked me for saying Florida had Final 4 level talent talk about a team that missed the NCAAs completely as having Elite 8 level talent.

Truly hilarious.

If you wanted to go more in depth about Stansbury's team you could have...read my post. YW.

I did enjoy the rest of the read. I think that NC State will have a very strong year, but that is in part because I believe Leslie is a sure fire NBA lottery pick and will play like it as a freshman.

One thing to remember about Jeff Capel, his teams at OU have been garbage without Blake Griffin in the lineup. I'm pretty sure he's not coming back to use his other two years of eligibility. Thus, Capel might want to reach out to Quin Snyder and gather some information about the joys of coaching in the D League.

No it was a nice try though.

When you mock someone for saying that a team has Final Four talent because they do not make the Final 4 (something they never predicted) and you do it over and over and over, it is really funny when you say a team that missed the tournament has Elite 8 talent.

I also got really excited that he was covering Miss. State, but then I realized I did not learn anything by reading it.

Although I hate the guy, Doug Gottlieb seems to concur with their talent level being high enough to make that kind of run. I can't read the Insider story on ESPN because I deemed it unworthy of the price, but if you do you can check it out.

The Illini are a team I actually enjoy watching (my favorite Big Ten team since Gill, Anderson era).

I do not claim to be friends with Lon Kruger, but I did like watching his teams. The Illini are talented and if Hat is comfortable calling them Elite 8 talent, it is his business.

Would be really fun to watch them play UF.
