The question isn’t IF that JG is the best QBon our roster.
It is WHY is JG the best QB on our roster.
If they knew in the Spring that Maurer and Shrout were much worse than JG, why wasn’t a grad transfer that would be eligible THIS SEASON not brought in.
Plus, why were Maurer and Shrout recruited and/or still on the roster? To be ready to back up HB?

I bet Maurer plays Saturday. Probably be in the 2nd half and I hope it is when we are at least 3 TD's ahead. I still think he's plays no matter what the score. I figured out he is the # 2 QB. Because when the BYU guy threw JG's shoe to the sideline and JG was coming to the sideline after it Maurer started to run on field he thought JG had to sit a down. They pulled him back to the side line.

Ok I’ll play along, which grad transfer would you like? I doubt Jalen Hurts would’ve come here with Oklahoma being available.
Maybe they could've got Hunter Johnson on the rebound, or the Stephens kid who went to MSU? There were a lot of experienced guys in the portal and they did take one last year. This whole thing is weird and I feel that there is more to the story than we know. Maybe JG has the locker room on his side?

I hope he gets to play when the game is still undecided, if not all they will let him do is hand off.

Mizzou got a pretty good one.
As did Ohio State
I’m sure there are others I don’t know of.
Justin fields at Ohio state wasn’t gonna go to another SEC east team coming from GA. Plus he only got a waiver to play this season because of a technicality, normally he’d sit out for a year.

I’m not sure there was enough evidence to support that kelly bryant was going to be better than JG.

Don’t forget, JG was expected to be pretty good leading up to the season. I don’t think any of us expected him to perform this bad right off the bat.

In fairness, Chaney did try to bring in another QB. Not sure if Pruitt bigfooted him, or he just couldn't get who he wanted.

Think they covered their bases with MD QB coming in. Would be interesting to hear how he did last week as scout team QB for BYU game. No way JG starts next year. He’s graduated, and expect him to transfer to Rutgers where his dad played...book it.

Jeremy Pruitt addressed that and said “BM is not the backup. He took it upon his self to try and run out there but none of us asked him to go. I actually kind of liked that though.”

I don't want to continue hammering JG because this whole debacle is on the coaches. God forbid JG has to come out of the game in the heart of the SEC schedule. Let's say against UA, UGA or UF. The backup has not received a single snap. In either one of the first two games, someone could've gotten snaps early in the 2nd quarter or 3rd quarter. By the 4th quarter JG's play makes it practically impossible to get in snaps for the backup because it's been a dogfight even against the weaker teams on the schedule.

These coaches will have no one to blame but themselves. It's like they are afraid someone will see the backup have some success.

True but I was one of the ones here hoping we'd try to convince him.
I know some here didn't want Alabama players but I did.
It also would have been good for Maurer to work with a real team leader

Well according to Pruitt today that wasn't the reason and said he wasn't the backup. Just Maurer being a good team mate:rolleyes:

Guess I should've just read the thread before I replied to that same statement. HAHAH
I said the same thing as you.
Pruitt kinda miffed me with that comment.

It’s cool. It happens. Lot of banter back and forth.

Meanwhile, Mike Leach with his Juco transfer QB who had a grand total of 5 reps in his WSU career before this season is 60-74-881-9tds-1int through two games. He's a guy no one has ever heard of too. No 5 star guy. Just a guy who is blisteringly effective because he's coached up. I can't remember the last time we had a QB coached up. Maybe Kiffin with Crompton. Before that Cutcliffe with Ainge.

You do know who the OC was when Crompton had his turnaround right?

Maybe he’s actually engaged in the game and wants to play. Probably doesn’t sit there and pout after a turnover or a bad possession instead of talking with his offense to figure this thing out.
