I liked that they did that so you don't know how long it would last, as opposed to being the main event so you know it's ending at the top of the hour.Just watching Dynamite. Perplexed as to why the World Championship match is in the middle of the show??? It's about 10 minutes into it. All I can think of is that maybe AEW has been weak in the quarters that the match covers or something. Trying to keep the numbers from nosediving maybe? Just very odd to me.
WWE does the same.I liked that they did that so you don't know how long it would last, as opposed to being the main event so you know it's ending at the top of the hour.
What i didn't like, and it's something i hate about AEW, is the refs dont enforce rules. There's a 10 count sometimes and not sometimes, they just pick and choose when they're allowed to break rules.
I think if you drop them on the steps or announce desk it's legal, if you hit them eith it it's illegal, same with throwing them into the barricade. I could be wrong.WWE does the same.
But I get what you're saying. I mean, shouldn't using the steps against your opponent be grounds for DQ lol? Was it a no -DQ match? I don't know anymore. I just go into every match thinking it's no -DQ and I cope.
Right?? I feel like every time there’s more than 2 people in a match, even if one of those is an interference match, WWE is like “oh no a third body, now it’s no DQ!” But then the very next episode we’ll get interference “OMG I can’t believe that just happened! Now it’s disqualified and…OMG, now it’s a slaughter!”I think if you drop them on the steps or announce desk it's legal, if you hit them eith it it's illegal, same with throwing them into the barricade. I could be wrong.
WWE does it to but not to the level of AEW. I had a problem with WWE a few weeks ago when they had that #1 contender gauntlet match, all of the sudden gauntlet matches became no DQ when they never were before.
I like rules.
I think it's because AEW hates matches that end in DQ. The pride themselves on the fact that it almost never happens in the promotion. To get that done, the refs give more "leeway", I guess?I liked that they did that so you don't know how long it would last, as opposed to being the main event so you know it's ending at the top of the hour.

I’ve watched two episodes so far and I enjoy it. I like seeing the behind the scenes interactions and getting some insight into how this lead to that then to the other, who came up with this idea, etc.I like knowing the secrets of the past, it's interesting. But I don't like spoilers and try to avoid them.
Then don't do things that should lead to a DQ, abide by the 10 count so the refs don't look incompetent, imo.I think it's because AEW hates matches that end in DQ. The pride themselves on the fact that it almost never happens in the promotion. To get that done, the refs give more "leeway", I guess?
I remember when getting thrown over the top rope was a DQ, much less getting put through the Spanish announce desk. Everyone has gotten more permissive on extracurricular stuff. I can see wanting it dialed back. But at the same time I don't want to go back to old WCW with 3/4 of the matches ending in DQ.
The 10 count has never been consistent. Even in the 80s. That's not an AEW thing. That's a wrestling thing. Maybe do a 20 count instead like Japan? The problem with old school wrestling was you got the same match over and over again. The "rules" have slowly been relaxed because the strict rules made things repetitive. Then don't do things that should lead to a DQ, abide by the 10 count so the refs don't look incompetent, imo.
I'm probably in the bottom 25% of wrestling fans in terms of understanding admittedly, but I can't fathom why people think the Montreal screw job is the biggest screw job of all-time? Hart was leaving. It's not good for the business to leave with the belt. You have to protect the biz.
I disagree with Vince on so much, but that was the right move, and it's even more clear that it was with the benefit of hindsight.
I think Scott Hall also believed it was a work.Following up on this from a while ago, Cody Rhodes was on the Bill Simmons pod and made a compelling case that the Montreal Screw Job was a work. I don't think he's totally convinced, but he's very suspicious. His biggest clue is that there was a documentary crew there to get all the raw footage behind the scenes, which was not something Vince often allowed...so why would he allow it on screw job day?
