This part I agree with.I mean we all saw that part coming, but the “interference” was garbage. And WTF is up with the storyline here? The final boss causes him to turn heel only for the final boss to make zero appearances during the biggest event of the year? And of all the heels in wrestling, current and retired, Travis Scott is who we send? That was terrible.
Very underwhelming Mania this year. Night 1 main event was far superior. The 4-way for the intercontinental title and and the Women's World title 3-way were definitely the highlights of the night for me. Other than that, ho-hum. Felt like a long episode of RAW.
Give me the worst AEW PPV over that any day.
But even the Cena is a bad guy schtick doesn’t work if the guy supposedly making Cena become a bad guy never shows up. I’m not saying we need a Rock cameo to make a Wrestlemania successful, but if you’re going to make him the centerpiece of a pretty significant heel turn only to then make him disappear, that makes zero sense both from a storytelling perspective and a huge PPV.I mean, I guess Cena could have a change of heart and feel the title was won unfairly and give Cody a rematch...but honestly, a rematch with Cody is not one of the things I want to see on his farewell tour.
So strange that Rock was no where to be found. Like....nothing about that main event made sense other than Cena is a bad guy. Not sure where they go from here.
AEW has more exciting matches, WWE is much better at storytelling. They're 2 different things, i prefer WWE.Match wise during a PPV/PLE,AEW has WWE beat. I can go without following AEW and watch their PPV. It also did feel like RAW. Some of the matches felt like they should have been on RAW. Filler....
The Rock being AWOL and the finish being a big letdown was my biggest gripe with the main event. I figured Cena would win, but not in that way. It defeats the build to the match. Oh well... We'll see where Cena goes now and if Cody takes a backseat.
Had some folks in from out of town this weekend for Easter. Didnt have time to tune in.And speaking of AJ Styles, where the hell is @JCHateSteve ???
Not sure how many matches Cena has left. I could see a program with Orton. Legend killer Orton. Or Punk. Guessing he'll see Cody one more time, maybe for his final match.I mean, I guess Cena could have a change of heart and feel the title was won unfairly and give Cody a rematch...but honestly, a rematch with Cody is not one of the things I want to see on his farewell tour.

His best rivalry was with Punk Bout 10 years ago, the one that got us the Punk pipe bomb promo. I’d love to see them bring that rivalry back into the fold, but Punk is busy with his own storyline that’s outshining Cena’s at the moment. Not sure how many matches Cena has left. I don’t necessarily mind Cody, but they are pushing him a bit too hard only to then have him lose in what can only be described as a pretty average to probably even below average match. The wrestling within the match was good, but the way it unfolded and then how they had it end really hurts Cody’s character arch. I’m genuinely interested in where they go from here with him. You're not. I think his shtick is hokey. I didn't see the match sense I couldn't watched. But but I've always thought he was meh.
They managed to stretch him "finishing his story" and coming back to win the title his dad never did, and the subsequent title reign for like 2 and half years. He's kind of played his hand at this stage. I'm skeptical that he can stay over outside the title picture. But I didn't think they'd ever put the title on him when he went back to WWE. I think we get a Cena heel run until at least SummerSlam and that’s when the WWE caves to pressure and we get something with The Rock. Maybe they finally explain what exactly happened and then it becomes something between him and Cena until the end of the year? Maybe a Cody turn and we have Cena “saving” the WWE by causing Cody to remember his good side? It’s a stretch, but I think that’s the only way you can have Cody get the title back or have Cena turn back to a face. Zero chance he retires as a heel. They managed to stretch him "finishing his story" and coming back to win the title his dad never did, and the subsequent title reign for like 2 and half years. It's starting to feel like his run in AEW. People got tired of his shtick after about 3 years. The thing with Cody is, he doesn't read the tea leaves. He doesn't change and adapt his character like a Cena, Orton, Rollins, Jericho. The great ones find a way to repackage their character while keeping their base characteristics. They managed to stretch him "finishing his story" and coming back to win the title his dad never did, and the subsequent title reign for like 2 and half years. He's slow to change for sure. He had to get released from WWE and take a journey through the Indies, New Japan, and help found AEW to rebuild himself the last time. It's starting to feel like his run in AEW.
