The worst thing for UT Football...

Wrong...

The worst thing for UT football is constantly getting their A$$es handed to them on the field. Also having a coach that cannot cut it in the S.E.C. is pretty bad. UT obviously has plenty of number 1. The question remains whether or not number 2 is true.

I have many doubts, but I hope to be proven wrong.

while i agree with stability i also imagine plenty of prospects not wanting to come "hundreds or even a thousand miles" from their home to have their a$$ handed to them on saturday by every team in the sec...sorry but nobody wants to be known for playing for a losing team. wins cure everything and i dont think there is anybody that knows how to get one on the sidelines right now. the argument of fixing tn with stability doesn't hold much water with me if every time i watch them they are getting pounded on the field.

This.

A coaching change would only be the worst thing if we hire a loser.

Again, Dooley's not getting fired this year. Anyone who doesn't think it's a possibility next year is kidding themselves.

heres a thought...how about in the off season our new athletic director goes out and finds a proven coach that has a winning record...oh my god is that even possible? gosh carl i guess that would be asking too much right? maybe we should just wait it out a few years till dooley learns how to coach? wow

Throw out some names Fister...I'd like to see what you can come up with

No, but some people do want to be known as being instrumental in rebuilding a winning team and returning a prestigious program to greatness. Not everyone wants to be just another cog in a smooth running machine. That's why people like Theo Epstein and Dale Sveum chose Chicago over Boston. Some people like to follow others down the path to greatness, others want to blaze their own trail.

Wins don't fix problems, but they can hide them or at least make us ignore them.

You're missing the point. It isn't an either or situation. We can (and will) build a stable program that projects 9-11 wins each season and competes for SEC titles. It won't happen by taking shortcuts or throwing a billion dollars at the flavor of the month hot shot coach. It'll happen by developing a strategy and sticking to it as it plays out.
