You would think one player wouldn't make that much of a difference. Not sure at the moment it was all that bad of a decision, but it turned out to be a bad one. Not sure it's remotely close to the worst decision Barnes has madeDefinately. AND, Barnes didn't pull Gillespie when he got in foul trouble. The worst move Barnes has made as a HC is when we had a 17 pt. lead on UK, Gillespie got his second foul in the first half, and Barnes put him on the bench. Our offense stalled and UK closed the gap before halftime. Had he left Gillespie in, little doubt we would have maintained or expanded our lead because UK looked defeated before that move.
Missing a bunch of free throws is probably gonna come back and bite this team down the road. I played high school basketball and after every practice we had to shoot a hundred free throws before we hit the shower. I'm sure Barnes has them spending a lot of time at the line, but something just doesn't seem to click for them during actual games. We better start hitting free throws. Game shouldn’t have been close.
After a half season? He may certainly well end up a decent coach, but there is a way to go to determine that. While they played a tough schedule, they weren’t close against 3 high level opponents. They’ve lost to 2 SEC teams that we’ve beaten. They may beat us, but he will probably end up with 11+ losses this year.Very fortunate to win that game it should’ve never went to overtime. Auburn is coming into TBA a hot team and Steven Pearl is morphing into being a great coach like his dad. However the Vols will get some payback on Saturday though.
Correct, all they could have done on review is assess a flagrant foul (F1 in this case) for unnecessary contact that wasn't a basketball play or contact to the head or neck. Both definitions could be loosely applied in that instance, but we arent getting that call on the road in a case where it could essentially end the game. You cannot go back on replay and assess a common foul.I think everyone would agree upon review, refs included, that it at least should have been called a common foul on Cyril. Whether it warranted a technical is debatable, but they weren't going to end the game on that whether they should have or not. I don't know the rules exactly, but I assume you can't go back and call a common foul after review.
We still got to half time up 11 or 12. We just came out flat the second half, but I agree they likely don’t cut it that far with JG in. Then again, UK has been finding ways to pull some crap out of their butts against us recently. At least we crushed them when it mattered!Definately. Very similar to the Kansas game...? May have to go back and watch. Regardless, we are learning as a team. UK is poorly coached IMO and has some self appointed stars. Time will tell. They could not even touch Vanderbilt and part of it was the Gym they play in that offers an usual advantage. We still got to half time up 11 or 12. Pretty sure that was what the pre review conference was all about. “Got to make sure we are all on the same page and it is egregious before we make a correct call.”What's more I thought it was a decent called game, until Pat Adams ruled on the Cirl back bulldozer stunt. As stated, game over if he makes the right call and no overtime.
