I know we all LOVEEEE to kick a dead horse when it's down. But man , that A&M loss and terrible Carolina loss kill me right now. 2,3,4 go down in one night. In volnation twilight zone, a 1 loss vol team is in the top 5 right now for sure. I guess that's why we all love and hate the randomness of this awesome game. Good win today and go vols!

Tamu and Bama loss was acceptable. The South Carolina loss was the worst of Butch's career and will end up costing the team big time. Vols gon Vols...

I think 8/10 top 10 teams lost today. Insanity. Had we not lost to Carolina we would be within striking distance. But it is what it is.

TAMU was not acceptable. It was a terrible loss. I might could accept sleepwalking through the first half against TAMU having travelled 1000 miles EXCEPT Vols have done it every game save yesterday.

TAMU was the opportunity to put in a full 60 minutes (would have accepted 45 minutes and that would have won the game!). We failed.

I could have accepted the OK loss last year (even though we should have won). But it becomes unacceptable coupled with the Florida loss in the same fashion.

We have blown a HUGE opportunity this year with the most talented team Butch will field at UT. We should be a 1-loss team and that to the best team in college football. We should be in the driver's seat in the East and looking to avenge that loss in a big way and make the playoffs. Bama might beat us again, but we should be growing in confidence and ready to take the fight to them.

However, we are a terribly inconsistent football team. We show our Top Four class in very, very short bursts. Which means we just have (had) a lot of potential. Which means we just aren't a great football team by any stretch. And it appears the talent gap between us and Bama will only grow without the super, once-in-a-generation legacy recruiting class.

Given where we were with Stooley, Butch has been great for the program. If he were going to win Championships though, it had to be this year.

The dead horse could have risen up against GA and Appalachian also. With a healthier squad Vols would likely have beaten SC and Tex a&m. If they win out it is a very commendable season given the circumstances.

The SEC has amazing parity with all teams except one having weaknesses and inconsistent games. I missed some games yesterday. How did the Bulldogs beat Auburn? LSU looked great last night and should be ready to wallop the Gators.

I don't have a problem with going for 1 and getting the tie...but our D was just as gassed as theirs and we still let them in FG position for a chance to win.

What would have made the decision tougher was that aTm was off-sides on the PAT which would have put the ball 1.5 yards away. That was a chance to steal the game.

Exactly.... you got to have a feel for the game. Great coaches have a feel for the game. Their defense was wore out. We were caving in their DL. They were very tired. John Kelly straight up the middle would have won us that game. I felt it, too bad CBJ didnt. He even said afterwards he never considered going for 2, even though they just got a penalty and were wore out.
