No he won't stop over because he won't be offered a HC job. He's had major success as a DC and was hired as a HC for 3 or 4 years. That didn't work out. He is a great recruiter and DC guy, he is horrible at game day organizational HC skills. I'm friends with many die hard U fans. I've heard all about it and him over the past few years. They all love Randy but hated him as a HC

Also you can speculate all you want as to whether the U would be in the shape that UNC is right now. It's been nearly 10 years since Butch was at the U and look at the shape they are in now. They were LOADED when he was there and even with probation and scholly losses, they were loading and re-loading. They could have weathered any storm if that staff stays intact.

In addition to Randy, I do think there are other guys out there who can get us over the hump. So for example, if Randy is asking for a 5-year, $10 million guarantee type deal, then I think we need to consider our other options.

Has anyone thought that maybe Shannon doesn't want to come here? When we hired Dooley we were turned down by pretty much everyone but Dooley. Just a thought...

Get Shannon. Better than anyone that's on the staff today. Worry tomorrow that he may bolt for a HC job. It's a risk we should take.

Heard today (per reliable source on this site) that Shannon is the man. Huge hire for DD!

Its just the way things are done now. Its how we pick presidents and how the Broncos pick starting QB's. Given the earth shattering success that we have seen from this method, I see no reason to stop now.
