The Walking Dead

I often wonder when people complain about the pacing what it is they are expecting every week?

Sometimes plot and character development need to simmer before the boil.

Here's the thought process of the people who always call it a slow episode... "Zombies! Zombies! Zombies! Now, now now! Kill, kill, kill! Raaaahhhhh!"

I guess I want to see a more realistic portrayal of survival in a zombie apocalypse.

They rarely go out on runs for supplies unless it's a life or death situation. This would be almost a daily necessity in a real survival event.

Call me crazy but if they did that, people would really complain about how slow it is.

Not to mention they constantly talk already about all the runs they make. Isn't that basically what Darryl does full time almost?

You don't think the Sophia thing was slow? Or that 3-4 episodes last year was slow? It doesn't have to be non stop action, but a few episodes in the past have been extremely slow. That Milton/Andrea scene last year was some of the most painful tv I have ever sat through.

The impression I got was they are stocked up on supplies from the "off season"

That sort of stuff happens off-camera. What an awful show it'd be if they went on Campbell's soup runs every week. LOL

When does Carl go sociopath again? It seemed to me as if he is just itching to shoot someone.

I thought, for a second, he was going to shoot Herschel.

more supply runs = more danger and zed action. IMO, much more interesting than this "Days of Our Lives" drama crap the show is force feeding the viewers.

It's the most-watched episodic show on cable. Don't think you can force-feed 14 million people.

Anyway, I'd rather see character development inside four walls than a dozen random zombie kills every hour. To me, Walking Dead isn't a story about the undead. It's a story about how human beings might react to life after an apocalyptic event. I think they achieve that quite well. Just my two cents.

How do you think they got 14 million viewers? By having 2 awesome seasons to open the show - which were packed with zed killing and survival action along with good character development.

They've gone overboard with the CD and drama in the last two seasons.

You mean the same second season they played Old Macdonald for hours on end?

If the show sucked, people would tune out. They haven't because it's pretty great.

I think it's reasonable to have seen some chainsaws being used by now. I mean the prison is surrounded by forests, why not use the wood? Plus a chainsaw would literally take out dozens of walkers in no time.

The increase in population should have been put to greater level of production heading into this season imo. Now the virus, while plausible, is a plot device to cull the population and question whether to abandon the prison. Just thinking aloud here...

This is season 4, you think it's already overboard with CD and drama? And season 2 was the worst season by far. IMO

You really contradict yourself, Season 2 was incredibly criticized for its lack of action.

I'm thinking maybe he is getting the breaks in the middle of the season confused with it being a new season...maybe? The first 4 or so episodes of season 2 wasn't bad, the back half was lacking.

I stand corrected, season 2 did suck. I thought the farm was season 3.

+1 for the guy who mentioned chainsaws :-D

The Sophia season was desperately slow yes, but I've seen complaints already for this season. That's what my comment was directed at.

Here's my problem with the virus plot. What I think happened was that they came up with the virus plot but when they played it out they decided that they can't just have people dying from a high fever and normal flu symptoms. It would be so much more dramatic and look better on screen if they were coughing up blood and bleeding from every mucus membrane. From a modern day standpoint it's weak but I'll let it slide. My biggest issue with this current scenario is that if this is a flu then it's a virus and ask any doctor on the planet if antibiotics help with any virus, no they don't.
The Elderberry itself might help the flu symptoms but the antibiotics are not going to save anyone.

I'm just impressed Rick found a way to charge his iPod.

Did we actually see an ipod? I assumed it was probably an mp3 player that took a AAA battery which could easily be found on a run.
