Kirkman just cleared up on Talking Dead that it was Otis who snares the zombies from the swamp and put them into the barn. But he was killed by Shane on the medicine run before the group arrived and said they were searching for a little lost girl. Otis would have known that Sophia was in the barn the entire time.

That was a fantastic episode. After the slow pace of the past few weeks it was good to finally see the story progress. The final scene was one of the best of the series.

When the walkers started coming out of the barn I told my wife that Sophia would be in there but when they were done shooting and she hadn't come out I thought I was wrong, but then she stumbled out.

It was a good ending to the Sophia story arc and I'm glad Rick manned up at the end. I like Shane but I don't want to see him be the leader.

I can't believe I didn't see the girl being in the barn coming. When they finished shooting all the walkers and you heard one more, it finally hit me.

And I thought Shane was going to get it.

I think that ole Herschel crapped his pants and several screws went loose when the group took the walkers from the barn, down

Still seems like Otis would've mentioned to somebody that he put a little girl in the barn.

I know I just think if it were me before I went hunting I would've told my wife or somebody. Just seems like him and Herschel would discuss who he put in there. But I'm not complaining. It worked out well for the story.

Am I the only one who thought Dale was going to blow Shane's brains out right before he opened the barn?

Dale is not as cool as he was in the comic.

The episode wasn't bad. I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. I thought Herschel was going to have to shoot his zombie wife for some sort of catharsis. But sophia coming out of the barn finally ended this drawn out plot line thank god. Rick needs to start being more of a bada** and less of a whining *****. Dale is just ridiculous. What was hiding the guns going to accomplish other than get everyone killed? Shane should have killed him then and there. The next set of episodes better ramp up the action or people will start to turn it off.

The drama in the show is good. The barn scene would not have been as good if they had done it without the slow burn. I love the show and the build up.

I happen to love this show and I hate zombie/horror movies. (yet I can't get enough of reality paranormal shows.)

I have seen where other people in other forums when discussing TWD. They talk about how slow the pace of the show is or not enough action or its doesn't follow the comics enough etc...

One thing I think people need to realize is its adapted from the comics (meaning they take some ideas from the comics while adding other original ideas such as characters, settings etc..). Another thing is and its an important one this is a DRAMA Show that has zombies in it and not a zombie show/movie.

Actually it was a zombie show in the first season that turned into a soap opera for most of the second. Too much "character development" of characters that are boring and/or annoying. I actually used to get scared or felt like something was going to happen all the time last season, but the episodes after the high school scene this season have left me bored and unengaged. And I know that people are going to say "You're supposed to feel like that because Herschel's farm is a sanctuary and blah blah blah. But those were the things that I loved about this show and what made it wildly successful. You could actually see the tension and stress of constantly living in fear through the characters interaction. And after that was gone, all that was left was the boring squabbles of the group. If I wanted to watch people talk about their feelings or work out their daddy issues or daughter issues, I'll watch network tv. Hopefully this may change in the next set of episodes though. Think they'll move on from Herschel's farm and hopefully drop some of the dead weight from the group?

While the Hershy Farms storyline might have seemed to slow the pace too much for some it used the time and circumstance to bring up some questions;

Just how long should a search continue for someone that's missing if doing so puts others in jeopardy? Would you look longer because it's a little girl or give up sooner precisely since it was a little girl with little chance of surviving on her own for long?

Property and civilization. So is Herschel's farm really "his" or are he and his there only as long as it takes for a stronger group to happen upon it? Shane (or whoever) says "We're staying...you can accept that or die." and there you have it, right? Rick really wants to believe there's still such a thing as "right" even in the absence of law. Shane is leaning ever more in the direction that survival is the law and all else is secondary. I'm guessing the group members are going to be pulled in both directions as we move along.

Would you have a baby in Z-World? How big are the liabilities? A gravid woman could be an anchor. A crying baby a death sentence for many or all. But if there are no births do the dead simply win by attrition in the long run? Do you even bother to think that far ahead?

As for where we are now I think Hershel is going to go bye-bye. He was trying to cling very hard to the past, even to the point of trying to "save" the dead. Shane shot that woman up while Hershel was holding her and the walls came down. Then everybody else in the barn was finished off. I see his mental pendulum swinging right past "coming to his senses" and proceeding straight to defeated anguish. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes all Koresh about things now that he sees the world's gone all to hell. At some point something, be it Hershel going bonkers or a Walker invasion or both, has to push the group back on the road.

Afterthought; the ammunition waste during "training" simply isn't credible. There's just no way. Maybe lots of dry-fire instruction with a few live rounds thrown in along the way to verify what needs addressed but that's it.

Agree with all points above. Our society maintains a veil of law and order in good times. When sh** hits the fan, rules and etiquette are out the window. Shane is armed. Hershel is not. Hershel loses that battle every day and twice on Sunday.

I think that having a baby without stability is ridiculous. Both the mother and baby become liabilities. This assumes, of course, that the mother and baby survive the pregnancy without one or the other dying of malnourishment.
