The Walking Dead

I saw somewhere today that they are expecting 12 seasons of TWD, is that true?

It's merely a wishful expectation. Even your good shows have an average life of 8 seasons, of course there are exceptions to this statistic.
If it remains entertaining and dynamic I wouldn't be offended at all by it going that many seasons.

I would say part of that talk is fueled by the fact that AMC may be panicking a bit because they are having trouble making the next hits that will replace the shows that are ending or already have ended. Low Winter Sun was a dud that was supposed to kind of replace BB, and their latest Halt and Catch Fire looks to somewhat be a replacement for MM and after 2 episodes it's doing badly. Turn probably did well enough to get a second season but at the same time it's not like it's been big success.

MM has 7 more episodes. They still have TWD, Hell on Wheels, and Better Call Saul is still coming as is the TWD spinoff. But I think BCS and the TWD spinoff are both kind of a toss up.

Speaking of the spin-off do you all not think it'd be better to run the spin-off during TWD off season as opposed to running it during the TWD season? Obviously you can't follow TWD with the spin-off because of TTD but I'm not sure it would be good to air the spin-off during the regular season as so many people would be apt to compare the two shows.

I would like it in the off season just because there is such a wait in between the fall and spring. If done correctly I think the spinoff could be huge. Same world and maybe have the new characters meet up with the old ones would be awesome.

I would think it would be better to run it during the main series offseason than at the same time. My guess is they'd probably have the Talking Dead run after those episodes too.

They have Preacher lined up for 2015 I think. Probably one of the best Adult themed comic series ever. It will be very interesting to see how it translated to cable TV.

I doubt they'll meet up though.

That's a good idea actually, let Chris do the after shows for both series.

I just dug up this info about the companion show.

Kirkman said, “They have announced that we’re doing a Walking Dead companion show. It’s a spinoff. I don’t know. I’m not scared of that word. But it’s technically not a spinoff, because we’re not spinning off any of the characters. That’s what that term means.”

Kirkman added, “So I can say that it will be another group of characters, surviving in another part of the world. And it’s not going to use any of the core cast from our show. The show will continue uninterrupted, as if the other show doesn’t exist. But the other show will kind of be its own entity.”

I guess we technically have it wrong calling it a "spin-off".

He joked in the same article about it possibly taking place in Arizona. Kirkman isn't known for giving things up though so I'd take that very lightly. I'd bet the new location will definitely be in the US though.

Where would you guys want to see the show take place? I almost want to say switch it up and go north.

It needs to take place in Knoxville TN and surrounding areas.

Actually it'd be cool for it to be set on the west coast.

I'm opposed to it having anything to do with California. Maybe Oregon or Washington I could handle.

Setting it in california/arizona will give a lot more of us to have to disbelieve though as far as weather not taking them out. That heat would kill zombies faster than almost any other weather type.

I want it to be some where up north because I want to see actual winter episodes. That would be interesting to see.

I definitely would rather see it take place in a colder environment. I'd like to see them have to deal with snow/freezing conditions. Also deal with different wild animals. For instance, have a grizzly bear come through and take out a bunch of walkers.

Funny you say that. In the comics there was a blizzard in the earliest stories. Made me realize Kirkman had never spent much time in Central GA / the South East.

I like these ideas. A climate change up would make for some interesting shows. Maybe when it gets really cold the walkers just freeze in place. They have nothing producing heat in their bodies. So you're walking along and you see a herd of frozen walkers just standing in place, still alive but just stuck there and can't move.

I wanna see a prequel on how it all got started

Meh I like the mystery of not knowing, plus it's been told 10 million times.

Shut your filthy whore mouth! :)
