The Walking Dead

Did people like this episode? I thought it was crap. I can see how you might like it in a shock value kind of way, but it didn't appeal to me.

:ermm: Ermm, Not sure if serious?

IMO, it was one of the best written, acted and directed episodes of the entire series!

Not trying to troll. I don't buy the little girl's insanity. Thought it was a stupid turn of events. Outside of the shock of what happened it was very slow, too.

I would have to say that episode is exactly what the walking dead is about, and one of the best they have ever done. The acting was great, the crispy zombies were cool, the story was rich. If you don't like that episode then maybe this show just isn't your cup of tea any longer.

Because she is devastated by the harming of zombies but has no problem hurting people? The insanity doesn't seem consistent to me.

Seems like you're trying too hard to make sense of something that, from any sane perspective, makes no sense at all.

If anything I thought they'd been making her seem a little too obviously unstable for awhile. It appears that Mika knew but was too young, and too much of a little sister, to really grasp what it meant and where it could lead.

Consistency isn't a word I'd use with anything regarding insanity

What about OCD? I've known Schizos who are very consistent about the things that make them unravel (like people dressed in orange).

What's the girl's diagnosis, anyways? I'm not trying to act like an expert on psychology, but I just don't know what kind of psychosis would have you defending a zombie and taking an innocent life in the same day.

It is TV. I don't know why some feel need to try and take on what happens on TV and in the movies, as if it were real.

The little details of what her diagnosis was or if it was consistent don't matter.
She was a danger to the group and anyone around her. As sad as is, Carol did the right thing. She needed to protect herself, Ty, and Judith. It's probably best for Lizzie also as she probably would have got bit by a walker while playing with it anyway.

She doesnt think she took an innocent life because she "didnt hurt the brain". She was trying to prove to Carol that people dont die, they just come back different.

The "main" issue with Lizzie is a total disconnect with what it meant to be a walker. Think of Hershel's original denial with a liberal dose of straight up crazy. She could kill people or Zekes if given reason but where she took the big left turn at Albuquerque was how her perception of walkers differed from everyone else. (Recall she was giving walkers names when we first met her) Everybody else just didn't "understand". In her mind the walker playing chase with her in the yard was nothing more than a new friend playing a game instead of eluding something intent on tearing her apart. Being a walker wasn't really even a "bad" thing, just a "different" thing. This was something she was sure she could demonstrate using Mika and Judith if only she could be given the opportunity.

She's actually at least the 3rd character that had a kind of dissociative relationship with some aspect of being a walker. (Hershel, Lizzie and the Governor)

What's confusing is that her mental illness was portrayed in a half cocked manner. She apologized to Carol profusely for pointing a gun at her, which confirms she understands that weapons kill and should not be used on loved ones. Yet, moments before she casually uses a knife to murder her little sister.

A more consistent response to Carol, in my opinion, would have been lizzie extending the invite to Carol and Tyrese to change them as well; walking slowly and gleefully towards them with that knife

Why so defensive?

You're verbalizing my position better than I am.

You could argue she knows that guns and knives inflict a physical pain and she was sorry for threatening Carol with that discomfort. She may have been sorry for causing the discomfort to Mika but felt it neccessary to prove to Carol and Tyrese that the walkers arent bad.

People forgetting she tried to suffocate Judith, killing the little rabbits? We now know she was the one dissecting animals in the prison!

That girl was nuttier than a fruitcake!
