When is the travel call really walking? I’ve been on a 3-hour exploratory venture on rules this morning, and the more I read the less I know. Is someone who has established position with the ball and falls with both feet no longer planted traveling? Is the step-through really legal? Ideas?
Yeah, seems way too much is open to interpretation. Then, prejudices could rear their ugly head too often. Those calls interrupt the flow of the game. One of those things that refs now have complete discretion over as a judgement call. If they don’t like you (Anthony Jordan), need to even up the score, or help the designated team do well they have those calls in the tool box. Same with the “never” called 3-second violation, charge interpretations, and how much blood is required or how much touching is necessary for them to call fouls.
Step-thru is definitely not a walk. Your pivot got can leave the floor to (1) shoot the basketball (2) make a pass. The shot or pass must happen before either of your feet land back on the floor. When is the travel call really walking?
