it's not where you start, it's where you finish.

until we finish somewhere worthy of caring about rankings, i could care less about where we start out.

That said, there is only one ranking that truly matters... being #1 in the final poll. Everything else is meaningless.

Auburn hurt themselves by scheduling OOC games against LaMonroe, LaTech and the Citadel. The same thing would've happened to OSU this season if they'd had two losses IMO. UF will get points for playing Hawaii, The U and FlState. If you knock off big name programs you can jump others more easily.
I would agree with that, the stength of their OOC games was poor, to say the least. But my point was that if they had been ranked in the top 5 at the begining of the year they would have been percieved as a great team, and when your dealing with the voting media, thats what a lot of these writers, and coaches look at. Certainly not an exact science with these guys, perception is reality.

Beating the U would mean something to a few people, but beating the likes of LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and even Hawaii and FSU would mean infinitely more.

3.Mizzu

What's wrong with that? He knew that in order to go to the NC game he needed number one votes and he needed VT, LSU, USC, and UGA way behind. OSU was a foregone conclusion so he bumped his team up.

first on the plate, Wisconsin. if we beat them, and Crompton really shows something this spring, i would guess maybe 10th-14th. if neither he nor Coleman have solidified the job, by poll time, maybe 15th-20th.
