I don't want to throw out a knee jerk post. The right decision was made today. It is sad to see someone who wanted to go out on his terms, but never got the train back on the tracks after 2001.
Something that I do find problematic is the easy target of attacking the media. Fulmer sullied the emotion of the moment by being petty toward the reporters in the room, ignoring one while he was asking a question, and naming the people he would answer questions from. The relationship between the media has been tenuous all year (and in previous years). Many of the comments that have come from the team and from the H.C. have evidenced a hostility toward the media and indirectly toward the fans that has become part of the culture of the team. Today's outbursts by the players is evidence of an attitude that comes from the top down. The media didn't "start this B.S.," and it is denial of some basic facts to try and pin it on them.
