The VolNation Challenge

Hey, I'm Pro BIG ORANGE! I really don't see too much wrong with the program. I'm sure some other universities/colleges would love to have Phil Fulmer as the HC. Is it the HC or is it the players or both? I know the Vols football program has had one bad year: 5-6. I think most of us are spoiled at having 10 win seasons. I like them too, but even 8 or 9 wins aren't bad. Some schools would like to have 8 wins in their program. I know that in order to have a great team the Vols HAVE TO BEAT UGA and the GATORS year in and year out, plus beat LSU & Bama. The SEC is the tougest football conference in the country -BAR NONE. We also have a least one top 10 team on the schedule that is non-conference.
I'm one not to give the coaching staff down the road very often.

I'll go ahead and respond before someone jumps all over this. :)

Remember we are not "some" schools. We do not settle for 8 or 9 win seasons at the University of Tennessee. :whistling:

We are on the level of Florida, USC and Ohio State. We are supposed to compete for a conference championship and in turn compete for a national championship. :good!:

Generally a 10 win season is adequate.........

:eek:k:

We are an elite school in an elite conference!

Go Vols!

We really don't need any more Vandy and Ole Miss fans posting here. The fellowship of the mediocre already has plenty of members.

A week has passed. Hopefully some people have a new angle to attack the Fulmer debate or maybe the crap will still get thrown around till the point of pulling ones hair out.

Personally: I see that in history Fulmer has had sucess. Recently I have seen his down falls or the slide of Tennessee Football. I do not cheer against him nor am I calling for his job. I for one do not chalk up the slide to "parity in college football". Tennessee year in, year out is a top 10 recruiting class and should produce Top 10 results or somewhere near. A school with so much tradition and talent should not be out of or below #20 in the final rankings if they are expect rumblings from their faithful.

After the 2005 season I can take a 9-4 season and swallow it and rationalize it as sucessful only in comparison to the 2005 effort. The one thing I cannot take is the poor Bowl efforts against teams that are obviously below us in talent and rankings. It shouldn't happen. People say, "Well frown at the players" in that situation. Many different players have played on failing Bowl efforts for Tennessee, Fulmer is the constant. Something needs to happen there.

In conclusion, if Tennessee beats Penn State this intense of an argument isn't going on and most everyone would be optimistic towards the 2007 season. With all that being said for the Vol faithful to be at rest after the 2007 season I think Tennessee must have "LSU 2006" season (reaching BCS without going to SECCG) or at least reach the SEC Championship game. Me personally I'm giving Fulmer 2 years to win the SEC Championship or get to a BCS game. If not I'm willing to look in a differnt direction.

Please share your thoughts if you have any that go above and beyond a battle of Pros and Antis and crap throwing everywhere.

Well now that the moratorium is over, I have something that I need to get off my chest.

*ahem*

FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ah, there we go. I feel much better.

UT would still be 5th in the SEC. Unless Phil is competing for the conference title regularly, he's worthless IMO.
