The Urbie Watch Begins

That's right. And Saban is not leaving the Dolphins, either. End of story.

I said all along Saban was leaving the Dolphins, and I'm not saying Meyer will never leave Florida, all I'm saying is the article is complete Bull sh:shakehead::shakehead:. He didn't meet with ND officials, NOT YET!

That will not cut it. They are going to make him a huge offer publicly and make him refuse it publicly. I'm sure that as a good catholic and former ND assistant he does not want to bestow the public embarassment on their insitution and program that will surely follow from a public rebuke, but I think that ND's AD/trustees have no choice.

I think Brian Kelly is probably the next ND coach.

i just don't see him "fitting" at ND. I think he probably is the best out there right now, but he hasn't been around long enough to get be the HC at ND. ND really doesn't need to get this hire wrong. They have gone a long way down hill over the last 8-10 years. They really need somebody that can get it done. I have even wondered if CLK might be on their list for what he has shown here. I doubt it but I have wondered.

There is a former TN coach who will be interested in the Notre Dame position, if they will commit to having a top flight program.

This is getting away from the subject of the thread a bit, but I'll say that this hire (if there is one) will be very difficult for ND. They just got burned going with an NFL guy. Their program is way down and their fans have unrealistic expecations. They are sort of in the same position as Bama when they canned Shula. ND absolutely must hire a coach with the gravitasse to impress the fanbase and stimulate recruiting while understanding that failure is not an option and several good coaches have already failed. Other than Meyer, Pete Carroll or Saban, I just don't know who is out there. I think that ND fans would settle for Brian Kelly but he would be on a short leash. If they are going to get back to being a regular national title contender then they will have to hire someone in whom their AD and boosters have explicit trust and are unafraid to turn over the reigns.

Good point. They will throw everything his way except the dome itself. I believe he has done everything at UF that one coach could but in the end maybe the ego keeps him in the SEC. Coaching against the likes of Saban, Lane, Nutt and even Mark what coach with Meyer's ego would walk away from this as it gets good.

I wouldn't call it over yet. Urban lied to Bowling Green and told them he wasn't going anywhere. He then lied to Utah telling them he wasn't going to Florida. It would not surprise me one bit if he lied to Florida. You can never trust a snake like CUM.

...going to a catholic school. now that's just funny.

Someone see the pattern here?

Just so I'm not misunderstood from prior posts, I want to empasize that I have no reason to think that Coach Meyer will leave Florida, I just think that ND will be in such a desperate situation that they will have to get a public refusal of a top shelf offer before their fanbase will allow them to move on down the list.

Each time he has moved on though it has been a major upgrade. He has pretty much reached the highest point in coaching. I wouldn't be surprised if he took the ND gig one day, but that won't be for a while IMO.:crossfingers:

If I were ND and I couldn't get Meyer I would go for Paul Johnson or Chris Petersen. The ACC isn't great but they are better than most teams Notre Dame faces every year. If the offense works in the ACC, Notre Dame(more talent than GT) will run over all the duds they play. I think an unconventional offense would bring a lot of excitement to ND fans and a lot of wins. As for Chris Petersen, he is just an all around good coach. Boise State has been laying wood on some quality teams the past few years. They aren't winning because they are the more talented team, they are winning because they are the better coached team. I think Petersen could win with ease at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame and USC are both higher profile jobs. UF has no tradition past 20 years ago.

Urban Meyer won't go to Notre Dame after this year. .

C'mon! Surely you don't think the players Yourbane is accustomed to recruiting could possibly qualify academically at that Girl's School near Chicago.
Entrance Exams scores of 6-8 will not get you in Notre Dame.

Did you hear because of the inept offensive teams Charlie Weis has fielded the school has changed Touchdown Jesus's name to Fieldgoal Jesus?:):pepper:

You really think a Catholic School would hire a scientologist as its head coach?:eek:k::fool:

I hope he does not go to ND or anywhere else. Would love to see that smirk on his neck wiped off with a 75-10 beat down by CLK next year.:)

Personally I hope Meyer stays at UF. I want to see Kiffin and the Vols beat the gators with Meyer as their coach!
