The Urbie Watch Begins

ND made a major mistake by giving Weiss that big extension after what, a half a year in his 1st year? I think they owe him 18 mill to buy him out.I'd by surprised if they let him go. It'll be interesting to see if the boosters dig in their wallets to buy Weiss out, and then spend 4-5 mil on a new coach. That's some serious coin, even for the mighty Irish.

Gosh, no Florida trolls have showed up to deny that Urbie would leave Gainsville for his dream job.

Looking at the first link posted makes me sick. The monetary value thrown out there is absurd, no way they would pay that much for Meyer, you could pay a fraction of that for Kelly and get pretty similar results.

No way Meyer ever goes to Notre Dame, he can't recruit thugs there, they hold their student-athletes to a higher standard and it would be hard for him to get those track stars he covets so much.

They get a big fish but not who they want.

They promote Charlie Strong, and the whole SEC sings Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA in unison.

This is why Jeff Luc has been wavering but a thread reported that Urbie told him to look elsewhere.

I just read the ND AD said money will not be a problem here in order to get who they want.

A guy on Gator Country reportedly ran into Shelley Meyer and this is what she had to say about. I dnt know if he actually talked to her but.........

I ran into Shelley Meyer and laughingly mentioned the latest ... that Urban will go to Notre Dame if she signs off on it.

Her response: "When are they going to let that die? We aren't going anywhere. Don't people understand that we are really happy here? Why would we leave? We have everything here and the way recruiting is going ... really, why would we leave? We won't. We're here for a long time."

In the course of the five-minutes we talked she also offered this up, which I thought was appropriate and interesting: "It makes you wonder who starts all these rumors and why do they always happen when we're recruiting? Makes you wonder about the timing, doesn't it?"

We're going to hear plenty more Urban to Notre Dame stuff in the next two weeks, but I trust what Shelley says. She offered one more reason which makes me trust her.

"What's it? 80 degrees here and the sun is shining? Does anyone really think we want to leave this for the cold and the snow?"

Like i stated earlier i dont know if this is true and cant tell if it is.

Gruden isn't going anywhere for a while---just signed a big fat contract with espn---He gets his football fix and his ego fed---without the pressure. He will be there until he burns out---if he burns out. He is the best MNF has seen----ever.

I would assume that he has an out if certain NFL teams come calling for his services. He would be stupid not to. ESPN can't pay what coaching can, plus the endorsements.
