The Unsung Hero

It’s short sighted to view those seats as wasted because they were empty in the darkest years of the program. When we become good again demand will sky rocket back to how it was in the old days. Not to mention that it will hurt the crowd noise. We need people standing and yelling not sitting in their club seats drinking wine and eating a $20 sandwich.
I'm good with the new Jumbotron and the SRO seating. Did you know, that when the Shields/Watkins deal was made on the land that was to become Neyland stadium, the university had to promise that you could always see the hill and Ayres tower from the field. There was some pushback when the north bleachers were removed and the bowl completed. You can still see Ayres from the upper deck, so I guess they got by with it. Putting a jumbotron above the bowl would have blatantly violated this and I agree that being able to see the Hill is a good thing. It's the heart and soul of the UT campus.

Having a jumbotron in the north end zone is good too. South endzone people won't have to look away from the field to see a replay now. Bigger isn't always better.

Guess you missed 11/20/21 - South Alabama, Attendance: 75,203 and 11/27/21 - Vanderbilt, Attendance: 77,349

2021 Football stats
Ooop! My research is flawed….. Thanks for the correction.

But, now that the low expectations of 2021 are over, I hope that we can make up for that. I live in Virginia, now — 4 hour drive). But I’ve always been a proud alumni! And I try to make it to about 2 football games per year…..

Alabama purposely installed this slanted “roofing” to focus the noise back on to the field. (An old soccer stadium trick).

Maybe Tennessee should consider this, too!…

Danny has done a great job so far…..so far. Every AD has some wins and losses, so I’m a wait and see. I need a larger body of work. So far, with the exception of Heupel, he has enjoyed the benefit of his recent predecessor’s hires:
Vitello
Woodruff
Harper
Barnes

He has also had to clean up his predecessor’s garbage they left behind and that’s no easy job so hats off to him.

Damn that would have been cool. What city is it in now? I thought it was Frisco at one point
Sorry, I was saying I don’t live out there anymore. The club is still there I’m sure. Most decent sized cities have clubs for universities. I also had some Nebraska fans that were good friends while I lived out there and I went with them to the local Nebraska club events to watch games sometimes. I’m not certain if it’s this alumni group or another group but it probably is this group. Call them and check it out. It’s always good to hook up with other Vol fans!

Funny because their stadium is quiet most games. They aren’t nearly as passionate as we are
Again, this was something I did while I lived in Texas but have you been down to see a game in College Station? The A&M fans are absolutely passionate and it’s a neat experience that I’ll never forget. It’s worth a trip, even if it’s not to watch the Vols.

I have. It was a cool stadium very nice fans. It was for the 2016 heart breaking game down there. There fans do a good job of consistent noise but it’s not as ear shattering as Neyland, probably because of the way it’s designed. Definitely respect A&M fans
