All I hear from the media and on this site is the two straight top 5 recruiting classes and how we have more talent than other teams.

Can you really say the 2014 class is Top 5 anymore? We have already lost 7 four star players from that class.

Everyone said Florida had less talent however they had the #3, #4, and #8 recruiting classes according to Rivals in three of the past four classes.

All teams have attrition....

When are the excuses going to stop and people start realizing that UT keeps hiring mediocre coaches

:bad:Coach Jones sealed his fate with UT as a coach when he refused to consider the then offensive line coach, Sam Pitman. Pitman was happy at Tennessee and wanted to stay. Pitman set national records with the results of his Tennessee offensive lines. Jones chose "loyalty" to one of his line coaches and refused to even consider Pitman. Arkansas jumped and hired him immediately.....that Arkansas offensive line yesterday are the Pitman results. Where would UT be today if Jones had retained Pitman? The hiring of Pitman by former Coach Dooley was probably the only good thing he accomplished in his "tour" at UT.:the_finger:

Sadly, based on his hire of DeBord, it seems CBJ continues to hire his old pals instead of seriously considering any new talent that may have been available. I wonder how long Butch will stay with DeBord, a dinosaur for sure, and Mahoney and Azzanni, neither of whom seem to be improving their position players.

I wish I was the AD. Jones would be out. Tennessee may never win another national championship. But by God we win 10 games. We are not a 7 or 8 win max program.

Spook1 -

I woke up this morning thinking the same thing - that Sam Pittman would have made this line better. Also, if UF can START 3 true freshmen on the OL, where are the 4-5* OL we signed last year? (Drew Richmond comes to mind)

Also, what players on offense or defense have showed improvement? Dobbs - no. Barnett - no. Hurd - little. Secondary - no. DL - no. LBs - little. WRs - h3ll no.

I could take the losses, but with no (or very little discernible) improvement, the state of the program has me very concerned.

When Butchy was hired I wrongly thought he could coach but might struggle signing the top talent necessary to compete in the SEC. I must offer an apology as talent has not been the question but instead we have a coach that can't develop the talent or coach in a big boy conference.

No more mid major coaches need apply as we should have learned by now how well that works out. Baring dismissal of Butchy and crew we might need to explore openings in the MAAC.

The two top five classes is misleading. It is based upon quantity, not quality. UT signed 62 players.

That's not how the rankings work. Rivals only factors the 20 highest rated players for each team. The rankings are legit. We just have a coaching staff that can't develop the talent once it arrives on campus.

The rankings were legitimate. There are two reasons why they over-state talent currently: first, the large number of 4* players lost from the 2014 recruiting class; and second, the failure to develop/identify a QB to produce at an SEC competitive level.

The Vols haven't won 8 games in eons.....5 wins was the norm 3 out of 4 years
I'm having a dificult time beleiving what I'm seeing out of Jones 3rd year......I saw players quiting last night and thats unacceptable and makes the fans angry and feel hopeless

There appears to be so many holes or problems with the Vols, the Oline, we knew would struggle, the receivers at wide receiver U can't get off one on one coverage and drop throws that hit them in the hands. Dobbs accuracy beyond 15yds is highly subject and tackling by line backers and DB's is horrible....so many areas are in trouble...not a receipe for winning by any streach

You'd expect more after 3 years and the great recruiting, but there is a major problem at UT right now.
