This appears more reasonable every day that Butch is still here. I'm starting to believe he's not going anywhere.
That's true, but so are all the other post saying he is gone with no possibility of returning for next year. Butch is here until he is gone, and he is still here.Tennessee is/was to big of a stage for Butch, he's definitely not an SEC caliber coach. Thread tittle is pure conjecture and based on what if.
He'll be gone after LSU, either before or after Vandy. No one has any faith in him- no one!! The AD realizes recruiting is the pits and the future is grim if we can't recruit. Why improve Neyland then? He's gone baby gone
Why would you fire a coach who has taken your team to 3 bowl games and defeated 3 B1G teams. He has done this with teams that have lost so many great players due to injuries. This was to be a rebuilding year breaking in 2 new QBs. Due to the injuries the Vols OL has been decimated. The defense has also lost three key starters. This year is what it is...CBJ is still here and may remain.
Last year Notre Dame was 4-8. It didn't fire coach Kelly. Now look at the Irish in the final four.

Missouri will drop 40 points on UT. For UT that is 13 FGs and that still comes up short. LSU will abuse UT. It will be very nasty. The brittle Volunteers will be carried off the field throughout the game. A physical beat down will take place. I thought earlier in the year that Vandy could be a win. That is where the program has landed. UT will lose to Vandy for the 3rd time in 5 seasons under Butch Jones. Says all that needs to be said about his coaching abilities.Historically the line of demarcation for coaches getting fired from UT is posting a 5-7 or worse season and not going to a bowl game.
The general assumption is that LSU is going to handle us easily. I don't think anyone is expecting us to win that game. That leaves Missouri and Vanderbilt. If Butch somehow manages to win both of those games there is an actual slim chance he keeps his job. He will have won 6 games and made it to a post season bowl game.
Personally, I think the negativity has gotten too loud for him to stay. I'd be surprised if the necessary conversations aren't already taking place to get him out of here, possibly coaching somewhere else.
No, I want to fire a coach who is 0 - 5 against Muschamp. 0 - 10 against the West. 1 and 4 against average UF teams. 2 - 3 against Carolina and soon to be 2 - 3 against freakin' Vandy. Why would you fire a coach who has taken your team to 3 bowl games and defeated 3 B1G teams. Butch is 14-23 in league play, and currently has a 6 loss streak. What part of that do you not understand? Why would you fire a coach who has taken your team to 3 bowl games and defeated 3 B1G teams.
