The Trump Effect

A South Carolina man accused of drunk driving and stealing a patrol car vowed to take his case to President Donald Trump during a fiery spat at his bond hearing.

William Waters allegedly stole the patrol car from the QuikTrip gas station in Spartanburg County on Saturday night while suffering from an apparent mental health crisis.

Waters, 34, appeared before a judge on Monday, facing charges of grand larceny, failure to stop for blue lights and driving while under the influence.

As the judge read the charges out, the suspect repeatedly interrupted, accused the judge of lying and refused to sign any necessary paperwork, WHNS reported.

'Y'all feed me this garbage, feed lies and put this c**p on TV,' Waters told the judge.

The judge ignored his remarks and set his bond at $20,922.

'I don't have no bond,' Waters spat back, before reiterating that he was 'not signing any of the warrants.' The judge, dismissing him again, replied: 'I understand that.'

'I'll contact Donald Trump if I have to,' Waters responded, before being escorted out of the courtroom.

tariffs continue to cause inflation to skyrocket out of control...

"We aggregate millions of real price data points from over 70 sources to obtain the most accurate daily measure of CPI and PCE inflation (year-over-year). Our inflation trends have been shown to precede the official numbers by at least 45 days, up to 72 days during stronger trend shifts. You can track our macroeconomic indexes on the Truflation website."

More rate cuts on Jan 27th should be happening.

I'm sure it will happen after Republicans get decimated this year. I look forward to your gnashing of teeth and woe is me tirades.
Ummmmm OK?

I won't have any of that, because I know it will be a complete waste of time. But I will enjoy yours when once again Trump walks out victorious over your party's complete waste of time and money trying to 'get' him.

1113 more MAGA days, sugar britches.

I'm a Republican. I'm not a MAGAtard, which is where you seem to be wandering lost in the wilderness trying to comprehend. "Everyone who doesn't agree with me is a liberal/nazi". You and the blue haired lesbians have soooooooo much in common.

"the US slashed insane tariffs"..LOL. BREAKING NEWS! Trump slashes insane tariffs that lunatic Trump imposed! Story at 10!
You seem to be upset that Trump's tariff policy is working and doing good for the country and did not cause inflation (currently under 2%) as you hoped. You would like to see the country fail just to have some blame to place on Trump...what a position to be in.

There was already a 15% tariff on many European goods including pasta, the 91% tariff was to keep cheap pasta from being dumped in the US causing harm to pasta producers in the US. According to GROK, the 91% tariff did not cover all pasta out of Europe, it was brand specific. The Dept of Commerce is currently doing an investigation of these specific brands dumping cheap pasta in the US and a decision will be made in March. Nothing "insane" about imposing tariffs on countries or specific brands for dumping cheap goods in the US harming US businesses.

GROK:
"Yes, there really was a dramatic drop in proposed U.S. tariffs on certain Italian pasta imports — and it happened right around New Year's 2026, shortly after a phone call between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and President Donald Trump.

In October 2025, the U.S. Department of Commerce preliminarily proposed extra anti-dumping duties of up to 92% (on top of an existing ~15% tariff on most EU goods) on 13 specific Italian pasta producers. This was due to allegations of selling pasta at unfairly low prices ("dumping") in the U.S. market. If fully implemented, the total could have exceeded 100% for some brands, potentially making many Italian pastas much more expensive or even unviable in the U.S.Then, on January 1, 2026 (announced by Italy's foreign ministry on New Year's Day), the U.S. sharply reduced those proposed extra duties after a preliminary review:
  • La Molisana → slashed to 2.26%
  • Garofalo → set at 13.98%
  • The other 11 producers → averaged at 9.09%
These are additional duties on top of the baseline EU tariff (~15%), so total rates are now roughly in the 17–29% range for affected brands — a huge relief compared to the threatened 107%+ nightmare.

Meloni and Trump did speak by phone on New Year's Eve for holiday greetings and to discuss global issues (Ukraine, Gaza, bilateral ties). Italian sources highlighted the tariff reduction as an early positive outcome, crediting cooperation and the good relationship between the leaders. The U.S. Commerce Department described it as companies addressing concerns in the ongoing investigation (final decision expected by March 2026).

The viral phrasing ("MELONI CALLED TRUMP AND BOOM...") captures the timing and optics perfectly — it's become a meme on X for pro-Meloni/Trump supporters celebrating the "win" for Italian exports and right-wing alliance vibes. That said, it's not a blanket "drop to 2%" for all Italian pasta — it's brand-specific, tied to the anti-dumping case, and producers still face the base EU tariff. Some critics call it more of a "contentino" (small concession) or incentive for future cooperation, rather than a full victory. But yes, the numbers are real, and the pasta stays much more affordable than feared. So, grab that box of La Molisana — it's looking a lot cheaper in the U.S. now.

Exactly what decision will be made in March 2026 by Dept of Commerce?

GROK:
In March 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) will issue the final results of its ongoing antidumping duty administrative review for certain pasta from Italy (covering the period July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024).This is the key decision point for the anti-dumping case involving 13 Italian pasta producers (including mandatory respondents La Molisana and Pastificio Lucio Garofalo, plus 11 others like Barilla and various smaller firms).

What the final determination will decide:
  • Weighted-average dumping margins for each company (or group of companies).
  • Final anti-dumping duty rates — these additional duties (on top of the existing ~15% baseline tariff on most EU goods) will be applied to imports during the review period.
  • Cash deposit requirements for future shipments (effective after publication of the final results).
  • Instructions to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on how to assess duties on past entries and collect deposits going forward.
Commerce will consider comments from interested parties on the December 31, 2025, post-preliminary analysis (which sharply reduced proposed rates after companies addressed initial concerns about cooperation and data submission).

Key dates and possibilities:
  • The final results are currently scheduled for March 12, 2026 (some sources reference March 11), though the deadline can be extended by up to 60 days under U.S. trade law (section 751(a)(3)(A) of the Tariff Act).
  • No duties have increased yet — current imports face only the baseline tariff, with the reduced post-preliminary rates (e.g., 2.26% for La Molisana, 13.98% for Garofalo, and 9.09% average for the other 11) serving as a temporary benchmark until the final outcome.
  • The rates could stay at these lowered levels, rise again, drop further (potentially to zero if no dumping is found), or be adjusted based on new evidence.
This review stems from a long-standing 1996 (Clinton era) anti dumping order on Italian pasta, with the current cycle triggered by allegations of sales below fair value (dumping) that hurt U.S. producers. The dramatic preliminary 91.74%+ proposal in late 2025 caused uproar, but the January 1, 2026, post-preliminary cut reflects improved cooperation from Italian exporters.

In short: March 2026 brings the binding final call on whether (and how much) extra anti-dumping duties stick — expect the Commerce announcement around mid-March unless extended. Until then, the "overnight drop" relief holds, keeping most Italian pasta affordable in the U.S.

Seems Trump is simply enforcing a policy that dates back to Clinton, Epstein's best buddy.

The Trump effect is emerging ever more with folks who were already saturated with bigotry, hate, and racism. Trump just brings what is already just beneath the surface to the top.

And then there is the blatant stupidity of hardcore MAGAs, you can practically pity them.
