top 5 trilogies of all time:

1. lord of the rings

2.star wars.

3. indiana jones

4.back to the future.

5.matrix. :dunno: (the first one is really really good)

I'm dissapointed in you.

THE GODFARTHER, how could you forget. [/quote]
u r so right. my bad.

i will edit.

5. Back to the Future:
Any movie that manipulates time (like Terminator) has the potential to be a great trilogy, and Back to the Future went over the top on these three.

4. Scream
Clearly the best of all the horror movie trilogies. Most horror flicks will just throw you a bunch of lame sequels, but this one followed the rules of a trilogy. It was constantly self-referential, with plot twists that harkened back to previous films.

3. The Matrix
This is a trilogy that will help make future trilogies possible. It's a trilogy that was clearly influenced by the greatest of all trilogies. It had a hero, a single story, and a beginning and end. Stunning from start to finish.

2. Lord of the Rings
Clearly the most ambitious trilogy ever put to film. I haven't obviously seen the third movie, but I'm already familiar with the story. I can't imagine them ruining that. If it does disappoint at all, it's not likely to drop futher than 3rd place.

1. Star Wars 4-6
Are there really words that can describe how great this trilogy was? It is the first and the greatest. Without these films, I'm not sure movie trilogies would be made. Thank you, George Lucas.
