The Topic That Will Never Die

Probably has something to do with him having such a big ego that he basically forced the Lakers to run the most unstoppable player in the NBA out of town.

:finger: the lakers and kobe. im not much on shaq either. he's just a freaking gorilla who can talk (barely), who pushes ppl around. big deal. and yes the nba is really crappy until the playoffs. i cant wait to see if lebron can show up like jordan in the playoffs.

I'd say get Cleveland to supply LeBron with a stronger supporting cast, and you have a Finals threat from the Cavs. I think San Antonio will win this year, though.

And there's no reason for the Lakers to not still be in contention for the west with the kind of talent they have. The only reason they worked so well before is because the fact that Shaq was good enough to keep Kobe's ego in check.

And for the record, Shaq is the best player in the NBA right now.

he is the best player because u say so?

he has one move to the bucket and he is as big as a bear.

i dont like kobe, but kobe is the best player. b-ball is more than dunks and elbow knock outs. lebron is a close second. garnett and duncan close behind. those two big men actually can shoot a 15-18 ft. jumper. 99.9% of shaqs points are dunks.

:snoring:
if he didnt have kobe he wouldnt have won. same this year with wade.

he needs a perimeter pressence to win.

Probably true, but it works the other way too. Lakers were 30 games over .500 last year. So far this year, Kobe's team is 3 over .500.

I'm with Milo - Shaq is still the best player with Duncan just behind him.

LeBron is the best player in the NBA follwed by Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett....The Detroit Pistons will repeat as champions! I'm not even a Piston fan I like the Orlando Magic!

I'm thining a spurs detroit final. But what I want to see is a laker heat final. Man that game on christmas was great.

yeah id say the spurs are the best. their depth is ridiculous. and their defense is top notch like the pistons. spurs over the heat in 6

shaq is just dominate. not the best player in the nba. if u think that then u think he is better than jordan or bird or magic. give me a break.

Shaquille O'Neal on whether he had visited the Parthenon during his visit to Greece: "I can't really remember the names of the clubs that we went to."

So? No matter his technique, when he gets the ball to post up, he is unstoppable. His presence on the court elevates the game of his teammates and forces his opponnents to elevate their game. Shaq creates victory on his own, and creates good team play. He is the only player in the game that does that. All the other greats right now have to rely on great teamwork while Shaq makes it happen.

Look at the talent around Kobe. Chucky Atkins, Caron Butler, Brian Cook, Vlade Divac, Brian Grant, Jumaine Jones, Slava Medvedenko, Chris Mihm, Lamar Odom and Luke Walton. With that kind of talent, Kobe should be great enough that he should be leading his team to the top three in the west. Instead, the Lakers are struggling to even make the playoffs and are barely above .500.

LeBron and the Cavs are doing only slightly better than the Lakers, but also while in an extremely weak Eastern Conference. KG is in the same position in Minnesota, and they probably won't even make the playoffs.

none of those guys have ever done anything. odom is a bust. butler is still developing. and dont get me started on slava med-ve-den-ko, omg. :dlol: :dlol: :dlol: :dlol: :dlol: :dlol:

i didnt say that kobe won those titles for him. just saying that shaq is not the best overall player in the league. at all.

the best player doesnt always win the title. it is called team work.thats why the spurs will probably win. or the pistons. TEAMS.

That's because Kobe does nothing to try and create any team play. If he did, the Lakers could very easily find themselves in the company of San Antonio, Phoenix and Seattle.

I wasn't saying that either, I was saying Kobe's ego on the court was suppressed by the fact that he was never the best player on the court as long as Shaq was out there.

The best players will find a way to win. The only other player in the country who is on a comparable level to Shaq and on a powerhouse team is Tim Duncan. The other great players out there look good because of the fact that they are trying to carry their team on their backs.

The best players ALWAYS find a way to win. ALWAYS.
