Within the past year, the multiyear contract extension the Saints announced for Sean Payton in September 2011 was voided by the NFL, making the suspended head coach a free agent after this season and casting questions on how long he will remain in New Orleans, according to league sources.

Is it sad that when I saw this I wondering how long it would be before someone put his name in our coaching hat?

I hate waiting. I don't think it's good for recruiting. I reeally think we're gonna be in trouble next year. CP, JH, TB, JJ will all leave early. On'y way any stay is if the right coach is hired, and hired as soon as possible once the season is over.

We're in trouble now Jhen. Real deep. A big hire would help keep the recruiting class together and even improve it. IMO

I hope so. I jsut think they need to announce that Dooley is out now. Let him finish the year. They need to show recruits current players that they aren't gonna screw this up.

I agree. Not sure if there is timing thing building the deal or what is going on. Low attendance and a Troy giving us a ball game should be grounds enough along with everything else.

Basically, we are getting overran by Bammers, Dawgs, Gators, etc. We need a Charles Martel to come in and stop the onslaught and set things right again.

Is really be surprised to see all of these guys go early. I don't think tb should go, his attitude and some of his choices have been awful, not standing out as a guy you want to draft. Needs to grow up and learn a little more. Same with jh, way too many dropped passes.

I think JH's family is going to be the issue for him. I think he goes because he has to provide for them. Could be wrong. I am on the fence about TB and CP coming back. I think it could go either way.

Agree on JH. The other two depending on who is hired may come back.

I'm not saying they should leave. But if the right coach isn't hired and they are projected in the 1st 4 rds, why come back for another year of transition.

Vader, I hate to tell you but I think it's going to end up a pipe dream so you better get your torch ready. I don't know anything for sure but I just have that feeling its going to end up being a pipe dream.

I have tried my best not to buy in. I really think a coach like Charle Strong would be better in the long haul anyway. Gruden would be teh rock star hire adn would give the most bang for buck quicker. Just don't see him hanging around for the long haul. If Strong came and things worke out, I could see him here for a while.

I would be OK with Strong. I just don't want us to fall on our face again.

Sad anecdote: My 7 (soon to be 8) year old son has started watching a lot of football with me the last couple of years. He cannot imagine us not being bad.

Whenever ESPN starts showing highlights for upcoming games, he groans and says "don't let them show us getting beat"

I want to be good again so my son can be proud of his heritage here in TX.
