If Dooley could give just a small glimmer if being a winner then I'd be in favor of keeping him. Some people are snakebit & I'm afraid her just lacks that it quality.

I see him winning 8-9 games/year and occasionally getting 10. Imo, we should have a higher standard. I like the guy and I wish he was successful.

Agreed on the snakebit part. I keep going back and forth on the quality things. I just don't know anymore. I have said before I keep holding out hope that Dooley will show that he can handle coaching at a program like UT because of the person he is off the field. I like the kind of player he is recruiting too. Not just talented but good character (for the most part) too.

I agree to a point. I think the D needs the rest of the season and the offseason to get this 3-4 down. If Dooley is fired, then Bray, Hunter, and Patterson are gone. Along with 2 OL(James and Thomas).I believe if Doole is retained, Hunter, Bray, and possibably the whole line returns.
I have said many times that I think Dooley can get the job done. The D wasn't horrible last year. It was actually pretty good considering how muuch time the O kept them on the field. Probably wasn't the best choice i the short term to switch to teh 3-4. I could stomach losing to Bama and SC. Even if we lose those games(5 total). All of those loses will be to teams that were ranked in the top 15 in the BCS adn that are ranked higher than us. Not too much to hang your head about when you really think about it. If we finish 7-5 and win a bowl game, that will be 8 wins. Much better than 5-7. I know many have thrown in the towel on Dooley. I almost wanted to after Saturday noght. I will support UT(and our coach) no matter what.

Sorry for the long response.

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that is one reason why people are having such a hard time this year. I think people expected some growing pains moving to the 3-4 but I don't think they expected what we have gotten this year. I think if Sal gets to come back next year and the team gets another year of the 3-4 scheme they should be well improved. The talent is there on D. It's not a lack of talent for sure. I think its the matter of learning the scheme and being able to communicate well enough on the field when the O changes the play or puts a man in motion.

I think if we see an improvement in the record this year people should be happy with that. I didn't say they should be content with it but happy with the fact that we improved instead of staying the same or getting worse. I think a lot of fans expected a lot more from this team this year. I said 8-5 from the begining and I will have to say as the season has gone on I am starting to wonder if that is possible.

I agree. I like everything he is doing but at the end of the day, he has to win ball games. He hasn't proven he can do that yet. I don't see him out coaching anyone.

It's the small things that irk me. Like DY at running back. Love the kids heart and fight but how many other schools run 165 lb back out of the I formation. Why doesn't CP get at least 10 touches/game?

I have not been able to figure it out either. After watching him run that kick off back just proved more so to me that CP needs to touch the ball any way we can get it to him. WD screens, quick outs, reverses, hand offs, wildcat... what ever it takes to get the ball in his hands. He is really dynamic with the ball in his hands. As far as Young goes I am ok with him running the ball every now and again because I think it gives us a change of pace at that position not to mention he is hard to find behind all those be O-linemen.

Dooley has been saving him for Bama. He's about to unleash the beast. Go Vols!!!!!!!
