Eleven years ago I was training an Emergency Shut Down Team at DuPont. I sent them on break and went to my office to get the next set of training manuals and my mom called me. She told me about the first plane. While I was on the phone with her the second plane hit. She worked for the government and was getting security feeds. I'll never forget hearing her voice.

I was in a military base in a secure facility watching the events unfold on projector with soldiers all around me. Knew they were all going to be called to action soon. It was a very surreal situation.

I was working at Target and was walking by the eletronics department and saw them showing the first tower on Good Morning America and watched as the second plane hit. We all just stopped working and watched the tv. I went home after my shift and laid in bed and just watched the coverage all day.

I'll be in Biloxi for the weekend. We were planning on leaving Thursday but will be delayed till Friday morning because I have a football game Thursday night.

Dinner reservations are for 8pm. We should have the game well in hand by then. My trusty phone will not leave my side.

I worked for a Japanese company at the time and we were in a room watching the coverage on TV. When one of the news commentators called the attack "the most cowardly act of aggression since Pearl Harbor" or something to that effect the room got a bit awkward.

Coming from a German background I've been in those awkward situations too.
