The Topic That Will Never Die V

TV:
1. The Office
2. Lost
3. 24
4. Friday Night Lights
5. Entourage
(Honorable mention going to Arrested Development)

I also watch and love Dexter, it just doesn't break my top 5. MAYBE top 10. I also like Family Guy and South Park but they aren't even in the same league as my other top 10ish.

I can't watch the office. I tried by God, just couldn't do it. Never seen or really wanted to see Lost or 24. Friday Night Lights is very good but I only saw a few episodes of the second season after watching all of the first season. I do love Lyla Garrity. Already mentioned Entourage as being good. Arrested Development was another one I couldn't get into. But once again, tv is mainly just for sports, sportscenter, star trek reruns, and nick at nite for me.

1. Good Call love it

2. I honestly wasn't all that impressed sorry

3. I would like to put this in my favorites now...can't believe I forgot about this.

4. Honestly I've never seen it.

5. Another great choice.

2. Please don't be that guy that just didn't really understand it. If you didn't like it I can try to understand that. But please don't let it be because you just didn't really get it or bother trying...because it is the "best" movie I think I may have ever seen.

3. Yea that's right...

4. That is a bad life choice.

I will try to amicably disagree regarding The Office. 24 I can understand people not liking perhaps, but not Lost.

That being said I was as skeptical as possible in regards to both for the longest time before I was basically bribed/forced into watching both and while Lost took nearly the entire first season, once it got me I've been hooked ever since. It is just so well thought out and well written.

Arrested Development is maybe my favorite comedy but I also disliked it the first time I tried to watch it. My taste is ever changing.

2. Naturally I knew this coming. I understood it all. And I enjoyed the meaning behind it. If you're measuring a movie by its meaning than it is a very good movie. I thought it was a bold movie just b/c of its ending alone. I just wanted some entertainment I suppose, and wasn't entertained. I seem to be the minority in this stance so I understand.

3. Seriously, I absolutely love the Departed. I am ashamed I forgot about it. It's late.

4. I will not watch old movies unless they are old war movies.

You ever seen It's always sunny in Philadelphia? Only seen it a few times, but thought it was great.

It would definitely be in my 6-10 which is kind of questionable in ranking (probably 6)...

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Weeds
How I Met Your Mother
Dexter
Prison Break
Heroes
House
Curb Your Enthusiasm

These are all shows that I follow closely...

I love Steve Carrell. I should love the Office. But it just doesn't work. I guess it goes along with 24 and Lost as me wanting to go against mainstream. Seems like everyone watches those shows. I'm putting up a mental block on them.

My tastes seem to change all the time as well. Hell, I like hockey now.

2. That's fine as long as you aren't "that guy" that I described. The writing and cinematography were brilliant though (see: Academy Awards).

4. That really is a shame, even though I was the same way up until maybe 2 years ago and caved in and watched it. It has the best message/meaning/heart of any movie I think I've ever seen.

I enjoy watching House but only do it occasionally. Basically, my whole problem is I'm just too dumb to keep up with shows. Unless I have my tivo I never know when they're on. And my tivo is at home. Even when I do tivo them I'm usually too lazy to watch them.

Fair enough. I can relate to your anti-mainstream because that's where I was before finding myself unintentionally hooked. When I started 24 and Lost I tried to critique them harshly and point out every flaw, but then they just got me...so while I disagree I totally understand.

2. I believe I went in expecting a western layer cake, and came out like WTF

4. I may take it into consideration.

That's funny. Yea I follow like 15ish shows closely and I don't watch one of them live. I download or stream them all online to cut out commercial time. I get too restless sitting through stupid commercials.

Are you a student at UT too I assume? If so what year and where are you from?

Well to make things fair I've never seen Layer Cake. I'll try to download it sometime soon.

And did you ever see Into the Wild? It's another one that is climbing my list. That movie gives me chills (and a lot of people hate on it without having seen it).

First off amazing that you can follow 15 shows. That hurts my brain.

Yup. UT student. Just transfered hear this semester from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Unfortunately, I'm leaving right after this semester so I got to live the dream for awhile. I may be back later though. I've lived in Kansas City for 10 years or so. All my family is from Knoxville/Johnson City though. Technically I'm a sophomore I guess. You?

You must see Layer Cake. I could watch it everyday. You really need to watch it multiple times to really love it. Plus its kind of British so it pretty much takes a few watches to really understand everything they say.

Into the Wild is on my list of movies to see. I have seen zero movies since I've been at UT, so I've got a lot of catching up to do.

Mind you with the TV shows that I just download them and watch them without commercials and they aren't all running at the same time of year.

And I too am a sophomore/rising Junior. And while financially burdensome I am doing everything in my power to keep "living the dream" as you so eloquently put it (FYI that is one of my favorite sayings ever) as well.

And well since I'm in the business of mind blowing tonight I'll let you in on a little secret...I actually own like 300+ movies on dvd and many TV shows. Something could probably be arranged if you wanted to borrow Into the Wild.

I own quite a few dvd's myself, just mostly at home. I may take you up on that, though I'm not sure when I would watch it. I'm sure I could find time. Can't remember if I have layer cake with me or not.

If I was taking out loans for myself the out of state might be worth it, but my parents insist on paying it all and I can't let them pay the out of state. Plus I'm looking forward to taking some time off from school.

I hear ya. I started out on full scholarship actually...then lost it. I still have some scholarship though but I'm barely making it on a college fund my grandmother set up when I was born. That will run out soon though...

And yea I know for me after this week I have one exam on April 29th then two May 6th. I will be bored out of my mind between the two dates. You can just PM me or whatever if you decide you want to borrow that or anything else, it's no problem at all. I just keep all my movies in these big cd wallets in alphabetical order (on my hall I'm known as "blockbuster" to some people) and I loan them out all the time.

I think I'm out in a few minutes too, I have a class at 8am that I may or may not actually go to now...

I'm in Greeve but I was in North Carrick last year. My roommate for next year actually lives in Reese now though and I'm over there fairly regularly.

And to think all this started with you telling me I looked like an Alabama frat boy...

Don't even know where Greeve is to be honest. It's like I haven't even really been here.

And you still look like an Alabama frat boy...

Greve is amongst all the sorority dorms (I'm a smart man), kind of across from the library towards the strip.

And you still like hockey...

alright I get the idea of where it is and good thinking by the way.

Also, I take the hockey as a compliment.

Have a good one buddy. Feel free to PM if you get bored. I am always bored. :hi:

KC didn't have you pegged as a Shield watcher! Its about the only tv show I don't want to miss! Besides General Hospital but that is a long story!
