We'll get Bama and Vandy for sure. Probably Kentucky, though they may be reluctant to do that because of "competitive balance". Could get Florida. UGA is for sure getting Florida and Auburn, I doubt they'd give them us also.Did tradition matter in 1992 when we stopped annual rivalries with Auburn and Ole Miss that had been happening for years? UGA and Florida weren’t on the tradition radar until the 90s. Things change.
Ought to be Vandy, Kentucky and UGA just for the logical sense of geography.
Exactly. Sixteen teams means fifteen opponents. You can play all teams in two years and you will play some teams two years in a row. I think a model like this works better to maintain competitive balance in the conference.I actually like that idea the best. They could work it out where we’d play most everybody 2 out of every 3 years.
I sure would miss the easy win since we are dumping a cupcake non con game!
I gave this a shot and it turned out slightly differently than any of these that I’ve seen because I took a different approach using Excel and kind of doing an NFL draft-style thing. I quickly discovered that it’s just not going to be perfect. Someone’s either going to get the shaft or there will be quirks. And this happened with Tennessee, for instance, but I don’t think any of us care too much who the 3rd rival is as long as we get Bama and Vandy. Kentucky and Ole Miss really get an awesome draw and Texas A&M gets the shaft. I tried to prioritize parity above all so that no team got 3 really tough opponents and I also think that the Alabama schools are going to really push to play 1 of the Mississippi schools for their 3rd opponent. But this is what I came up with:

It is just my humble opinion but after over 50 years of having UT season tickets, I can voice this: Missouri doesn’t even belong in the SEC and I don’t want to play them. Not in ANY sport.I gave this a shot and it turned out slightly differently than any of these that I’ve seen because I took a different approach using Excel and kind of doing an NFL draft-style thing. My favorite line regarding the Florida game came from the news anchor Shepard Smith. During the week of the 9/11 attack and right after our game with Florida was cancelled, he said “ I am really sad, I always look forward to watching the Tenn/Florida game” live on air to the nation.Bama and Florida are the only truly meaningful rivalry games. Vandy and UK are almost a gimme. I'm not worried about balancing a 9 game schedule with 3 games.
I have seen a scheme like this before that has us playing Missouri or SC. I can work up a little SC hate, but I mostly just wish Missouri would go away.I gave this a shot and it turned out slightly differently than any of these that I’ve seen because I took a different approach using Excel and kind of doing an NFL draft-style thing. We barely played Georgia and Florida until the 90s, so this should be easy. They will never be happy ; always changing, changing. Tennessee is supposed to play bama, florida, uga, uk & vandy every year. Tradition. But Tradition doesn't matter anymore. I doesn't matter what WE want/think. It will probably be bama, uk and vandy.
Oldest ,not the most played. We played kentsucky twice in 1942 and didn't play vandy once when we played kentucky. We started playing vandy in 1892 and kentucky in 1893. Didn't start bama until 1901. Interesting side note the first bama game ended in a 6- 6 tie because the fan got into a fight that spread to the field. Moral to the side note: never trust a gump.Vanderbilt is our most played opponent
perfect
