I BaseVol. The rest is just noise.still think of the Braves, Dodgers, Giants, Padres, and Astros as divisional rivals of the Reds in the West
still have trouble with the concept that Milwaukee is now NL and Houston is AL
but don't really pay attention to baseball much, even less when the Reds are down, which is always hahahaha
When I become commissioner I am sending the Brewers back to the AL. Mainly because I can’t stand Selig.still think of the Braves, Dodgers, Giants, Padres, and Astros as divisional rivals of the Reds in the West

My grandfather was a pirate pitcher in their minor league system. Never made it to the big leaguesMy dad liked the Pirates and the Cardinals growing up.
And I had an aunt who had a house on Lake Rosa near Gainesville. And when we went down there and I was a little kid, they had a very nice neighbor who used to like to fish with me. And I knew I had seen him before. Well, it turns out it was Roger Maris, who had a house there beside my aunt's boyfriend. One day dad had stayed in Gainesville while Aunt Eleanor took me to the lake house to fish. Dad was waiting on us at the dock, and he freaked out when he saw that the person driving the boat was Roger Maris and then they talked about a lot of stuff I didn't remember because of my age. Great guy. Then in 1984, I had a car wreck and broke my leg, and Eleanor told Roger, and he wrote me the nicest "Get Well Soon" letter and sent me a personalized autographed photo of the 61st HR. I know cool story bro. But it really was pretty cool to meet him and do fishing and not talk baseball stuff. I ate dinner at his cabin with him, he ate at Eleanor's cabin, we talked about school, in my opinion a class act.
Roger was sort of down-to-earth like Torbush, whom we talked about a little bit after he died....he married in to my family (distant relatives) and I knew him pretty well and would see him around. Several times I would see Carl at the Sit-N-Bull and sit close to him and chat with him. Very down to earth, very approachable, very nice guy. That’s epic
That is freaking awesome. I consider Maris a Cardinal. My dad liked the Pirates and the Cardinals growing up.

yep...upper east Tennessee boy and Vol Phil GarnerThat is freaking awesome. I consider Maris a Cardinal.
A while back I found a scorecard I did for a Pirates/Cards game I went to in the late 70s, We are Family.
And of course it included one of the all time great Vols, Phil Garner.
I was briefly following minor league teams who were in or near the places I was in during my youth. When the Braves moved to Atlanta, making a trip there to see them play was an event. I shared a fandom with my favorite Aunt until the second strike just about wrung it out of me. The fiasco with the AFCRA and move to Cobb County killed it. I tried to follow the Gwinnett county team, but when management refused to honor the people’s overwhelming choice to name them the Buttons, I forewent the pro game altogether. Now, I am content to follow the BaseVols.I mean the Basevols are a no brainer, but I've been a Reds (and lesser extent a Tribe) fan for basically my whole life

Mr. Aaron breaking Babe’s record is one of my earliest MLB memories.I was briefly following minor league teams who were in or near the places I was in during my youth. Following a team even when they suck is a fundamental part of fandom. There were years when the only entertainment for Braves fans was whether they or the Blue Jays would have the worst record in MLB (irony being that these teams played in a World Series some years later). Then why are you here? Were you BaseVol 10 years ago when they sucked?
When I was on the Hill we road tripped to a Braves game. This is when they were bloody awful.Following a team even when they suck is a fundamental part of fandom.
