It isn't much of a secret that UT usually comes out flat in the second half. This is mainly due to depth, of course, but these numbers are still staggering.

Against teams with a winning record (under Dooley's watch), UT has been outscored in the third quarter:

109-156 by all teams
48-146 by teams that finished with (or in the case of this year, currently have) a winning record
48-129 by SEC teams
27-122 by UF, LSU, UGA, Bama, and USCe
6-56 by SEC teams this season

Nothing groundbreaking, but simply solidifies the point that we just flat-out suck coming out of halftime. As UT gets better depth this will definitely improve, but it's tough sledding right now.

Depth should be telling in 4th quarter, and not so much the third. I could not see depth be an issue at all tonight until the fat lady had already sung.

4th quarter stats actually are a little bit better.

I think it's partly due to depth and partly due to lack of adjustments (although when you're overmatched, that's kind of tough).

Depth is an issue when your 2nd string qb can't throw and is a three and out machine and your defense hasn't taken their chin straps off before its time to go back in. We played fr and sop against jur and sn and Hung in for a while. Just too much drop in talent from the 1's to the 2's for us to hang.

Bama scored their first possession and on their second possession. If the D was tired then, something is bad wrong. Talent level is just not there. As Milo said, we are just a bad football team.

How is it depth when we get done with a long break and come out flat. Depth issues show late in the game. Not the start of the 3rd quarter.
