The Third Debate Thread

Trump says he will absolutely accept the election results.

If he wins.

(PS I think he's just trying to be funny. But, gosh he just cannot help but keep these things just lingering out there. Seems like not taking it seriously is pretty foolish, but that's just me.)

That's awesome.... I would vote for trump if he would have stayed like that the whole process

Donald Trump:
"Of course I would accept a clear election result, but I would also reserve my right to contest or file a legal challenge in the case of a questionable result. And always, I will follow and abide by all of the rules and traditions of all of the many candidates who have come before me. Always."

Al Gore:
"The effort that I have underway is simply to make sure that all of the votes are counted, and when the issues that are now being considered in the Florida Supreme Court are decided, that will be an important point. But I don't want to speculate what the court will do. I am very troubled by a lot of the stories that have been reported, about blacks being discouraged from voting. Whenever you have allegations of those kind, that is a matter the entire country ought to take seriously."

Great retroactive politickin', there, Ernest T.

Party before country, brah!

Trump now claiming Hillary had the debate question ahead of time last night...

What a f'n cry baby!!! He loses his cool (Wrong) and blames his struggle on everything but himself.

I agree that the comments are different in that they are coming before the election. But in many ways, the timing doesn't matter. Whether you delegitimize an election before or after, you delegitimize an election result.

I appreciate your respectful comments, but you are out in left field on this one.

Anti-Hillary people are really struggling, and it shows. I realize what a threat she is, but it is a far lesser one than Trump. Sorry.

No need to apologize to me. I'm conservative, but I'm no Trump apologist.

Besides... It's politics. One man's left field is another man's strike zone.

I love the feigned attempt by republicans to act like they care about gay people.

A Trump presidency would attempt to strip away marriage equality, result in ENDA being delayed at least 4 more years, result in a host of new state laws like NC's HB2, and effectively push LGBT individuals back into the closet.

Give me a break with your newfound concern about treatment of gays.

Lol. This is awesome.

I heard he is going to throw gay people off of the roof of Trump Tower too

Who cares. Nothing matters. A candidate says he won't accept the vote of the American people (and that's what he said), who cares! Nothing matters anymore.

The Republican Party now tells me so. Nothing matters anymore. All that matters is nothing.

We'll come up with some complete BS excuses in the meantime, but know that, for now, nothing matters.

Not even remotely comparable. Gore made no such accusations BEFORE the fact and even initially conceded his opponent's victory. After legitimate concerns about voting irregularities emerged, he then proceeded with a rightful challenge. And one that, to Donald Trump's "rigged elections" point may have been accurate.

This is in no shape or form like Al Gore's challenge. It's an insult to American democracy to even compare the two.

This is 100% correct. The point people seem to be missing about the 2000 election is that due to how close the results were in Florida it triggered an automatic recount that had nothing to do with Gore challenging it or not. Plus, as you correctly pointed out, once the case properly went through the court system, Gore quickly conceded and he certainly did not call into question the legitimacy of the election before the votes were even cast. This is an apples to oranges comparison with what Trump is saying right now.

Psst! Don't tell the DNC that. They like to bring it up as a gotcha moment.

Don't act stupid. Hating gay people is still a top priority for the republican base. There's no coincidence Trump boasts how his supreme court nominees are anti gay.

The same republican base comprised of people who stated the only thing sad about the death of 50 people in a gay Orlando night club is that he "the shooter" didn't kill more of them.

Simply not true; even among evangelicals.

I said the republican base... where it is absolutely true.

Republicans under the age of <35 not so much. Another reason why the proverbial "tent" of the republican simply isn't growing. Young republicans disagree with party's stance on social issues.

So Trump should have said he will accept the results after he is finished taking the election through the court system?

Just want to make sure I understand at what point "accepting" is ok.

You don't have the first clue what the Republican (young or old) base believes. Those left wing websites/tv channels are rotting your brain
