The "Thank You" Fulmer thread...

All i can say is, at least he did this with grace. He deserves not to be fired mid season, especially for what he means to Tennessee and how well he's done. Anyone that says he's nothing but a mediocre coach with nothing but mediocre seasons is absolutely absurd. You must have became a vol fan in 01. The people that are vol fans since a little kid knows that CPF was a great coach and had the utmost respect for UT. And it's not always about winning. If you think that way, your not going to get far in life.

So why did he resign?

no Ive been a vol fan since Ive been born,Im 23 to be exact.Ive shared every other fan's frustration,as a matter of fact Ive called him names said he sucked and much more, but Ive realized I was wrong and Im sorry vol fans cuz I know it wasnt right, but Ive seen the light and I understand how much Phil has done for this program.I will admit Im glad to see him step down, cuz me and every other vol fan knew it was time, but It will be tough to see him gone.Im proud of you Phil and good luck to you and your family.

Thanks Coach Fulmer. We appreciate the National Championship and the class way you represented the program. Thank you and your family.

I have looked forward to this day for some time. I kept thinking to myself..."Phil is done, he needs to go!!!".
Now that the trigger has been pulled, it leaves me with a sadness in my gut and a tear in my eye. It kind of feels like a close relative has passed away.
We have watched, and grown up with, Phil as a player, a co-ordinator, a coach, and a man.
Now my only hope is that the future treats Phillip and his family with good fortune and great memories...I know he has left A LOT OF GREAT ONES FOR THE FANS!!!
I am now seeking out tickets for the UK game so I can stand with rest of the 106,000 plus that day and wish Phil the very best from the bottom of my heart...we love you Phil and will miss you...God speed my good friend...

It's been a tough year. Tough decade too. But he'll always have my respect. And thanks for running a clean program I could be proud to use as an example to my boy. You don't just stumble into the promised land without a lot of organizational, people and coaching skill. I'll always be willing to give you a standing O anytime you want to walk between the checkerboards.

Sorry the game passed you by coach, but I guess it does all of us sooner or later.

Sure wish I had Kentucky tickets now.

Thanks coach Fulmer! People made fun of your weight and that was none of their business. People made fun of "heck" and "gosh darn". You have more class than to curse all over the air waves like Bobby Knight. You played your heart out on the field for us. You coached your heart out for us for little pay many years ago. You took the lead and gave us the best decade of football that we will ever see. You brought to us one of the greatest QBs in football history. You got us that great national championship. You did it all with class too. Players loved you, the AD's loved you and the fans loved you for the majority of your career. Our program will change forever now. No coach will ever love this program as much as you have. It will not even be close. Sorry it turned out this way in the end.

Thank you Coach Fulmer for all you have done for this great university. I wish you all the best of luck in the future.

One of the proudest moments of my life was watching the 1998 team bring home a National Championship. Thank you for that.

You have always represented this University with class, thank you for that.

You knew when it was time to go, for the good of the University, Thank you for that.

Go Vols!!!!

It was his time. He is a fine coach and great ambassador for UT.
I agree... it was his time, but I am so thankful that it ended this way. Coach Fulmer brought us some of the best times in UT football history, and he EARNED respect from his players and fans. We owe him respect, this guy, no matter what you think of his last few seasons, has given most of his life to UT football, and that should mean something... I pray only the best for him and his family in the future !!!

CPF is what I have always known of Tennessee football and is a great ambassador of the university. While I am happy for the change, it will certainly be an adjustment to see someone else on the sideline. Thank you Phil, for everything!

The thing I will always remember is the td pass to Price in the 98 NC game. I think that lead to the greatest moment in UT history and it was all possible because of CPF. Thanks coach for all the great memories.

Thanks for all the years Coach Fulmer. There have been some great years, some good years and some bad years. Through it all you represented UT with pride, passion, honor and dignity. Good luck to you with whatever you decide to do in the future.

I agree that its a sad but new day for ut football. I really hope everyone now can breathe a sigh of relief and go back to the games and support fulmer and the vols, im going to attend the remainder of the games no matter what. Go vols!!!

Thank You Coach Fulmer for your 35 years of dedication to this program as a player, student assistant, offensive line coach, offensive coordinator, and head coach. I wish you all the best in the future!!

THANK YOU COACH!!

Thank you very much Phillip Fulmer! You led us through a decade of dominance, SEC championships and title games, bowl victories, over 150 Saturdays of joy in the fall and winter, a national title, and some of our greatest players in the school's history. You brought UT back to national prominance and put a spotlight on Knoxville in the eyes of the college football nation. Your players loved you and the fans did too. You gave us many great games that we still reminesce and tell stories about to both our firends and those too young to have seen them. You led us into battle countless times against the dreaded Crimson Tide and not only were able to come back victorious, but end their long streak against us and swing the series in our favor. Though your career may not have ended on the bright spot you had hoped, you were always a classy coach and a great representation of the University and it's ideals, regardless of what good or bad may have happened on or off the field, and helped set a standard for our coaches.

But above all, you were a good man: the kinda guy mothers loved their sons to play for and fans loved to see on the sidelines.

Though the times have changed and we must move apart, we were made all the better for having the interactions we had with you. You sir truly did bleed orange and loved the university with all your being.

You have and always will be one of Tennessee's boys; one of her beloved sons. You truly did give your ALL for Tennessee. Go vols. Best of luck to you in the future wherever life takes you. You will be missed. :cray:
