I've come to expect that as the nature of free agency. If you don't give them the long deal somebody else will. And you can't win losing all of your good players. Plus his long deal isn't as bad as most good players.
 
Just looked it up... Texas leading the AL in runs, hits, bases, RBI, average (.306!!!), OBP and slugging. And trailing the Yankees in jacks by only one.

Too early to say that we got the best lineup in the AL?
 
The scary thing is, you have the best shortstop prospect in baseball just casually destroying the minor leagues.

The lineup is incredible. Although, it looks like we may have lost Beltre today, he tweaked his hamstring.
 
More than worth the investment, sir. I find myself tuning in to watch a whole lot of Rangers games.
 
That's a real shame.

Rangers beautiful ballpark + some very watchable players make their games ever entertaining
