LSU had a DT but I can't recall his name that played at 265 but he went first or second round last year. If a DT is fast twitch enough and has strength training and knows how to use his hands he can be successful at a low weight against anyone. Its very tough for some guards to handle the faster DT's

The guys I have at dt are projected to be there. If you expect them to come in and play immediately next year then yes they will struggle. I'm excited because they are athletic and still should be with thirty more pounds on them . The position should be held down though next year by Williams, Clark, obrien, Carr, and I feel lambert on passing downs. A freshman has a chance to win snaps with that limited depth though.

Absolutely correct. This is the SEC. Malik Jackson at 275 made plays off the edge, but was ineffective inside. Also, he put on a big belly to get to 275. Converting DEs to DTs doesn't work in the SEC. When we see another Henderson and Haynesworth inside on defense we can talk national championships.

Everything about this is wrong. Malik wasn't fast enough to beat tackles. He was much more disruptive at DT and he didn't get fat. He also plays DT for the Broncos. If it works in the NFL, it works in the SEC.

Thomas is 265 right now and 6'6" with a huge frame. He will easily be 285+ as a true freshman. Mixon played at about 250 in hs; he is nearly 270 now. Barnett is nearly 270 now.... All of these guys will be in the 290 range.

Neither won a NC.
I think Henderson was on the team as a partial but did not play on 98.

Butch seems to like the lean & mean DT`s who are strong & quick.

In high school you have a freshman, jv, and varsity team. This freshman team would be the best in the nation i think, and sadly could have competed with this years varsity based off talent in the starting lineup. Futures bright go big orange.

RB- Jalen Hurd and Treyvon Paulk (say no more, Tennessee is getting the horses in the stable)

WR X- Josh Malone (top 100 recruit)

WR Y- Paul Harris/Neiko Creamer (big tall athletic)

Slot- Vic Wharton/Ryan Jenkins

TE- Helm and Wolf (Goodness gravy we needed some new blood)

LT- Austin Sanders

LG- Kendrick

C- Coleman Thomas

RG- Ray Raulerson

RT- Zeus Brown


Defense

SDE- Hendrix/Vickers

WDE- Henderson/Malik Brown

DT- Barnett/Mosley/Carr/Thomas/Mixon
******This is the posistion that gets me most excited. Watching Hood, Joesph Ayres, Carson his freshman year, was just outright sad. They never got to the qb and on there best days had a running back run into them a time or two during the game. This is the kind of group that gives the run clogger (Mosley) to go along with a couple of fast twitch athletes that can get penetrate and are athletic.

WLB- Bates/Elliot Berry

MLB- Mouhoun/Bryant

SLB- Johnson

CB- Gaulden/Evan Berry/Mosely

NB- Payne

FS- TK2

SS- McDowell


Man this is the kind of team I want to play NCAA football with. Be scared SEC were back.

Keep in mind that these are freshmen, and most freshmen usually make freshmen mistakes (Dobbs, for example) and take time to grasp the system. I think this will be a great group given time, but if you think they will have a great season next year, you may be disappointed. Looking for a good year in 2015, and a very good year in 2016, especially if they keep up the recruiting.

Beating freshmen is what keeps getting frats kicked off campus. Well that, and the omnipotent allure of box wine.
